Morning - there are a series of West Coast Railways trains "in the system" today running Euston > Northampton> MKC > Northampton >Wolverton (stable) > Northampton > MKC > Euston
Any idea what they are about? Can only assume some kind of Grand Prix/F1 dining or contingency train. Can anyone...
Morning - tomorrow I have to do a drop off at T2 at Heathrow. It is a good 10 years since I drove to Heathrow and i have a couple of questions:
Is Heathrow in any of the congestion/ULEZ zones?
Is there a drop off area these days?
Is there a charge for drop off?
Separately, as I have to get...

Correct - There is a judicial review timetabled and the ECHR has said the flights cant take place until the domestic courts decide on the legality of the policy.
Another important point was...
Visited the above Gala over the weekend. Very good operation, lots of interesting running. Trains very busy on Saturday but much quieter on Sunday. Silly nazi style salutes and shouting mindless nonsense out of the windows seemed much reduced.
nice to see one of the new 69's (69005) in use...
In need to ask the RUK hive mind for some advice.
Next week we are going to Bala lake for the long BH weekend. Due to work I cant get up to Leeds to meet my partner and drive the van over. Therefore I need to find a station that i can be picked up from en route.
The route the van will take...
I have been very vocal on how crap the vivarail/lnwr units/service has been on the Marston Vale line in recent years. I may owe them the beginnings of an apology. Since the timetable was changed earlier this year reliability has been, whisper it, good (at least on the most important...
A quick one - have Greater Anglia stopped running to Kings Lynn?
Asking as my mum has moved out that way and she has ben told to get the "Anglia" train to London as they are better than the "Thames" ones. Personally I would drive to Peterborough and get the LNER!
On Saturday 22nd January I happened to be passing Midland road on the train and though I saw a glimpse of a DRS class 68 at that site. Is that accurate? If so what was it doing there?
Does anyone know if this special is running tomorrow? It is supposed to be Derby to Derby via S&C and Darlington with a certain popular steam locomotive ( ;-) ) running Doncaster to Darlington. I cant see it in RTT but this may be because these kind of trains are obscured these days. Can...
I was travelling back from Bristol yesterday and happened to stop at a very busy Cherwell services for a quick splash and dash. On leaving I noticed, boxed in my other vehicles, a smart black 08 on the back of a wagon.
Does anyone know which locomotive it was and where it was off to?
A question I have been meaning to ask out of curiosity:
Why are the majority (all?) of the HST powercars being used by COLAS/DATS/LSL et all the VP185 engined versions rather than the MTU engined version? Is it just they are the ones in best nick, most easily available and offered at best...
Does anyone know what this was and why it went on such a journey? Was it a turning move?

West Midlands Trains have indicated that their London Northwestern (LNR) services will restart in August on both the Masrton Vale and St Albans branches.
Peak hours service first followed by full restoration, hopefully, by the end of the year...
Does anyone know what this is: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R03076/2020-07-27/detailed
Also why does it have a little trip to Fenny Stratford when it could run straight to Euston? I assume this is a test train of some sort and needs to look at a very particular bit of track. it all...
I have recently noticed a couple of new GA units being hauled from Old Dalby to Wolverton. GBRF have been doing the honours. My question is what are they going to Wolverton for? is it simply storage?
between Paisley and Johnstone ( Elderslie?) there seems to be a W H Malcolm container base that is rail connected. Is it ever used? I often see a telehandler there when I pass but have never seen a train in there. Also is on part of the site of the former Linwood car factory?
