Willenhall & Darlaston station construction updates

TFWM on have teased a “much-awaited announcement” at 1600 on Wednesday, presumably the opening dates of the new stations. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14XrvaxAi9H/?mibextid=wwXIfr

    Circle line to Barking?

The 05.07 Barking to anti-clockwise circle, would that not just be a Hammersmith and City line train? The others I guess can change what line they are on en route (on the displays and announcements etc) - I'm not a regular user of the tube but I've definitely been on a train that has done this.

Pedestrian routes across the railway near the NEC in Birmingham.

According to this map the piazza is closed between 1am and 5am but you can walk round the back of BP Pulse Arena. This suggest the bridge itself is open and there must be a way down to ground level from it. https://www.thenec.co.uk/media/10760/nec-site-map.pdf It's also possible to cross at...

    Storm Goretti disruption - 8/9 January 2026

1V71 1704 Edinburgh to Bristol TM is currently 287 mins late on the approach to Cheltenham, appears to be running in service. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C75105/2026-01-08/detailed#allox_id=2 Looks like the trains that were stuck outside Wolverhampton all got in eventually...

Euston to Gatwick Airport tapping in/out.

You have to tap out and in at Victoria, in both directions, it is impossible to get from the underground to the mainline train and vice versa without doing so. Oyster will combine the journeys and calculate the correct fare automatically.

Advice on heavily delayed 1810 Euston to Birmingham, Sat 6 December

I believe many of the passengers from the 1810 ended up on what was the 2024 from Euston. I was on this train which not only been delayed because of the congestion at Watford Junction caused by the breakdown of 1810, but also further delayed because of a smoke alarm activation just before...

New CrossCountry app - doesn't allow changes to older bookings

You’re right, I failed to spot the attachment!

New CrossCountry app - doesn't allow changes to older bookings

Can’t get Apple wallet tickets on the new XC website either, so that’s another reason to stop using them.

Does TFL ever "guess" tap in/outs

I believe there is an algorithm used to complete journeys based on previous journeys. For example, ticket barriers at Greenwich North may be left open at the end of a concert at the O2 and not every card may be registered but it would guess the journey based on arriving there earlier in the...

Avanti with blue light card code

I always hand my blue light card with my ticket when it’s checked, never had any issue

    Delay Repay claims rejected

It was a relatively small amount and morally I balanced it against a time when one of them had refused to pay out. I didn’t claim to GWR, that was XC’s decision

    Delay Repay claims rejected

I was delayed on an XC leg of a journey involving GWR and then XC The GWR train was delayed, but not enough to miss my connection with XC, but the XC train was cancelled and so I had to take the next one. So I claimed Delay Repay from XC, who passed it to GWR for some unknown reason. I...

London to Aberystwyth - where can I change?

If for some reason Birmingham International isn’t an option then go for Wolverhampton instead, as there will be many people using it between New Street and Wolves, it should be a bit easier to get seats thereafter.

Station names on the UK rail network that you would change

At risk of going off topic here, is it in Ladywood? The border is clearly signed on Monument Road to the north.

    National Routeing Guide update

This has been a long-needed easement but will need changing again when Willenhall and Darlaston open, and also needs to extend to Walsall otherwise journeys to Walsall still have to go the long way round.

Station names on the UK rail network that you would change

It was a bit tongue-in-cheek given the examples of "... Central" suggestions earlier in the thread. It's on the southern edge of Edgbaston really.

Station names on the UK rail network that you would change

Rename Sandwell and Dudley back to Oldbury As for University, perhaps “Edgbaston Central”
