Back in the day, there were neat little concrete ballast bins where fresh ballast was kept so that gangers could pack any sleepers on their stretch. Different times, different procedures... But also a different society mindset as to not caring/bothering about what the whole railway estate looks...

Thanks. Was Trust having problems with freights on Sat 10th? I saw 66619 passing E Broadway at 1056 heading east, followed by 66025 at 1127 also eastbound (both aggregates), but I can't see them on RTT. Re 7Z34 Acton - W Drayton , might it have been 66143?

At least there are quite a few Freightliner-livered 66s in Poland so you won't feel totally lost. Do widzenia! And dziekuje for all the info. It was always most appreciated and really helpful when trying to write-up all my notes.

Was visiting London's northern termini (Padd , Marylebone, Euston , St Pan and KX) on Saturday and noticed all now have gatelines except (I think) Padd plat 1 and the high-numbered platforms at Euston when Avanti staff aren't around. What would happen if I tapped-in with my contactless card at...

Between Soton Cent and Millbrook, the fast lines are on the outside with the slows (serving the island platform at Millbrook) in the centre.

I don't underline stuff in a book anymore, though I do make notes in an A4 book. These are from Iver in July...
