So if a distant is not a speed signal, it does not tell the driver to control their speed? <wink> A distant is unrelated to line speed <further wink>
Yes, yes - you can say it means "expect stop", but how else can you stop if not by controlling your speed?
Oh, indeed.
The wording from the Ministry of Transport illustrates that when you drill down into it conceptually a semaphore distant is a speed signal - the need to control the speed of the approaching train and the need to inform the driver of a speed restriction - yes, it is not a specified...
It may be worth addiing this into the discussion: a transcript of LMS document ERO 50239: “Instructions as to the Sighting of Signals”. This was printed in 1936; but containing the Ministry of Transport guidance from 1928 and of itself an amplification of the 1925 notice that mandated the use...
Yes - that's fine and dandy within reason for the northern section. Temporary balises would still be needed for the southern approach and a temporary method of working would need to be agreed for Cae Pawb.
Golly, that's a bit of whiffy bait.
Because the changes to the signalling would cost...
Are you sure about that: I think it can be done - however, I'd need to double check the scheme plan; moreover temporary balises can be installed to protect the obstruction.
Uxbridge to Barking, perhaps? We've been here before. I've often pondered what would have happened if Harrow was remodelled in 1938 directly after Wembley Park and Aldgate was resignalled earlier than 1946 (OK the Aldgate lever frame was at Paddington GW due to bomb damage)?
The WTT paths...
Vic Line still booked to run at 2 min frequency NB if there is a Seven Sisters/NPk reverser: [Walthamstow] 2 min [Seven Sisters] 2 min [Walthamstow] 2½ min and repeat during peaks off Brixton; pattern different ex-Walthamstow to let the Seven Sisters/NPk trains in; Central 2 min Leytonstone -...
Vic Line ran at 2 min frequency after the opening of Stage III and before the opening to Brixton.
Pre-WW2 and on Coronation Day 1953 the Bakerloo was worked at 1½ min frequency, an that was during manual days.
I note that at least part of the Jubilee is now timetabled to ¼ minute...
I guess this is why the platform stablers are all altered to be stabling in 21/22 rds at Brixton/Walthamstow this evening.
I'll eat humble pie - they are going to be in service.
Although the trains will be running in traffic hours, they will not be carrying passengers just yet.
There is also a new Victoria Line timetable coming in soon ?26th? only a couple of minor tweaks +½min over Walthamstow crossover is the only real change.
There is a report online about the Moorgate crash in '75 which will give you details of most of the layout at Moorgate.
Drayton Park has been published in a relatively recent issue of Underground News, and I think there are some images of the signal box diagram on flickr.
Of course, if you...
I've seen a couple of pictures of the 09TS lurking around on Flickr; to be honest there looks like slightly less headroom, due to the additional cooling equipment in the roof.
Interior views also show really tiny windows, so your claustrophobia is going to be compounded.
