    The failure of Northern Connect

When Northern Connect was first announced the map incorrectly showed the Cumbria services going via Walken. I see that map is in the video. I love it.

    December 2026 Timetable Change

That was a core part of First bid for the now gone franchise. So frustrating to see the route continuing to operate separately.

Can the remaining bay platform not accommodate the 4x20m?

Any service crossing in to England should transfer to GBR

No one is suggesting truncating anything. Simply the national operator GBR runs all cross-border services leaving Welsh Government / TfW to focus purely on Wales. This is not a radical position.

Any service crossing in to England should transfer to GBR

Yes. GBR the national operator should run all these in to Wales. Welsh MPs / UK wide Gov/Parliament retain oversight over all cross-site running. 1780562570 This is a bit of weaker one given that's a route that only has a single station in England. But sure I would support GBR North taking...

Any service crossing in to England should transfer to GBR

Moderator note: split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/gwr-accused-of-disrupting-wales-england-train-links-by-government.302957/ Absolutely not. If anything any service crossing in to England should transfer to GBR asap as they are directly accountable to UK-wide DfT. Welsh...

Last Blackpool North to Manchester Airport service

This is a consequence of removing the historical Blackpool North-Victoria stopper. The semi-expresses has to pick up the slack. Some services still miss Blackrod and Adlington. We'll add them in for ya lol. There are two fast services a hour Manchester-Preston in the form of the Cumbria and...

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Curious that on DIAGRAM: AN 292 SX 769/4 LTP the 769 starts the day by moving from Spring Branch to Wallgate vs starting at North Western bay platform and keeping the pan up for the first run to Stalybridge

No service between Bolton & Preston 25/03/26

Not even that is needed 323s/331s are cleared for Westhoughton running. Man Vic/Blackpool/Wigan crews all sign this route no?

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

7 out of 8 available from start to end of day routinely is a reasonable ask

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

75% availability only six days a week is the lowest threshold for success in GB rail today no?

Northern’s low threshold for skipping stops?

This week the 08:04 Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport only successfully made it to Burnage two out of five times. Poor. The seven minute turnaround at the other end clearly needs more padding if Northern cannot manage it most of the time.
