My point is perhaps in the opposite direction - around where I grew up, in London commuter territory, there are lines where every train calls at every station. Lots of stations like that.
Some years ago I remember paying attention on a 455 out of Waterloo and noting that the continuous stream of automated announcements never stopped until after the train had left Vauxhall....
Good question - I'm guessing the driving position in a 66 must be lower than a 37 - can they see anything past an independant plough?
Re the route availability issue, which I've always assumed was the reason 37s got the Far North Line... I just looked things up at...
I've always felt that if a train is replaced by a bus, my train fare should be refunded to the equivalent National Express (or similar) coach fare.
We typically pay more to use the train, so if that benefit is removed...
Shots of the Kyle line are beside the point, although pretty - the locos *have* been arriving in Wick. I take the point about keeping it clear(ish) rather than letting it get worse. Thanks.

Not railway-related, but I think worth...
It does seem odd to tell passengers they can't get off when the majority of the train is clearly in the platform. Even if SDO wasn't available for whatever reason, the green levers exist - as demonstrated!
Delaying the passengers for half an hour by taking them away from their destination...
Heading south on the WCML today, and on leaving Crewe we have been told that,
(a) signalling issue between Crewe and Stafford means they are down to using just the slow lines for that stretch, and
(b) derailment somewhere in the south has stopped all traffic between Euston and MK (though...
Green Park is infamous for its lengthy tunnels, if changing between the Jubilee line and anything else. They're probably not as long as some of the surfaces interchanges in large stations that people have mentioned, though.
