If I understand things correctly TPE and Northern are running Sheffield - ManPicc but EMR aren’t, EMR saying because of the overhead line problem. Am I just being thick here, but don’t they both use diesel trains on the exact same route?

Yes my journey is Mon/Tue/Wed. Tickets booked based on the advice from this forum either an itinerary for my whole trip. Something will probably go wrong, of course, it often does for me. But maybe that’s because the majority of my journeys are on XC or EMR :-)

Can’t agree more about XC. Cancelled, late, overcrowded, take your pick. One of these for just about every XC journey I make, usually Chesterfield to Birmingham, sometimes Derby to South Wales. My own fault I suppose for wanting to travel at weekends

On a train from Crewe to Chester where there aren’t any intermediate stations… This train is for Chester, we will be calling at Chester, the next stop is Chester At Chesterfield station…. The next train at platform 1 is the xxxx to Sheffield. A trolley service of drinks and light refreshments...

The reverse is more likely. You somehow find a train with seat reservations then when you get on board you find that the seat reservations haven’t been loaded, somebody is sat in “your” seat and the train is full

I generally travel from Chesterfield at weekends, just did Nottingham yesterday for a change, and a beer in Nottingham on the way back. But I haven’t seen Aurora trains recently on my usual route. I’ve not seen seat reservations on CHD-STP since about last Oct or Nov, the usual reason given...

Yesterday I had reserved seats both directions between Nottingham and St Pancras. Outbound the reservations were displayed, return they weren’t. Irritating.. On busy trains from StP it can be a lot more than irritating. Theres usually a headlong rush when the platform is announced, no point...

Its Crawley this coming Saturday but Barnet the following one, been there loads of times but I didn't know about Moranos so we'll probably give it a try
