Can one of you ticketing experts please help me plan a trip which is this…

Easter Monday, Chesterfield to Barrow-in-Furness. Need to go via ManPicc and Lancaster to meet a mate and need to be in Barrow by around 12:00. Staying overnight in Barrow

Tuesday along the coast Barrow to St Bees, staying overnight. No time constraints

Wednesday St Bees back to Chesterfield, going up the coast to Carlisle, then S&C line to Leeds, then Leeds to Chesterfield. No time constraints.

Obviously I could do 3 separate single tickets but is there a better option?

Thank you in advance

From what I can see, a Chesterfield to St Bees return is valid both ways. A return to anywhere closer to Barrow makes it invalid via the S&C for the return

Off-Peak is £105.60 without a railcard discount, has no time restriction on Easter Monday and only a post-9am restriction for the other days. Outbound only valid for one day, so you'd need a separate ticket for Barrow to St Bees on the Tuesday, but it would cover absolutely everything else.

Barrow to St Bees advances are widely available for as little as £5.30 with no railcard, so £111 all in pretty much.

A walk-up Off Peak Day Single ticket, Barrow-in-Furness to St. Bees (route via Sellafield) is £14.00, in case you want to 'hop on, hop off' at any intermediate stations on the Tuesday leg (perhaps to visit the Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway)? On the Wednesday, don't forget that there are no trains running through the tunnel between Corkickle + Whitehaven (it's an RRB instead).

Be warned that Northern have RRBs scheduled on all services north of Lancaster on 3/4 April
Given that they've also cancelled everything on the Morecambe line today don't be surprised if things go wrong...

WCML is closed on the 4th and 5th of April with avanti operating s&c diversions with their Evero units

Isn't that because of the planned engineering work on the WCML on the Saturday/Sunday affecting all operators? OP isn't travelling up (through Lancaster) to Barrow-in-Furness until Easter Monday.

Yes my journey is Mon/Tue/Wed. Tickets booked based on the advice from this forum either an itinerary for my whole trip. Something will probably go wrong, of course, it often does for me. But maybe that’s because the majority of my journeys are on XC or EMR :)

I'm not sure that cancelling 10 out of 48 trains (or 5 out of 24 out and backs) counts as cancelling *everything*...

When I got to Morecambe station it certainly looked as if they'd given up for the day and were using either RRBs or completely cancelling services.....in the event it looks like they managed to find a crew from Barrow to run some of the afternoon services
