My mother took her test in 1977 and she tells me she failed because she did the turn in 5 rather than 3. The examiner made some comment about 'A man could do it in 3'. She passed 2nd time with a different examiner who didn't even ask her to perform one!
My cousin has just got a job in Gorton, Manchester. He lives in Kirkby, Merseyside. Both have train stations. He'd love to use the train but it takes 2 hours to do a journey that he can do by car in 40 minutes. No contest.

Customers/Clients/Passengers eavesdrop far too much on conversations between staff members, years ago it didn't get too out of hand as they would perhaps only repeat it to friends or family. Now with things like Facebook and Twitter they are repeating it all around the world often...
We get people wanting to swap new 10ps for old because the library photocopier doesn't like them and I understand a lot of Shopping Centre car park machines are yet to be updated.
But this isn't the Treasury's fault. This is industry being tight.
How did the 'witness' know to record it? It takes seconds to unlock phone, open recording app and press record surely he'd have missed it?
The more you look at this the more you wonder if its a spoof.
I've found Cross Country to be terribly inconsistent. Sometimes I've been offered the lot (hot main meal, dessert/snacks, cold and hot drinks) and other times I've had nothing and the 'host' was nowhere to be seen!
What I've noticed about a lot of these is the complete lack of a revamp to the stores by the new tenant/owner.
Some of them literally look like they've just swapped the signs over!
What we are seeing here from Boris and others is class and dignity. Something Bob and others were lacking last April when an 87 year old mother and grandmother died after suffering a stroke.
Now I can't even begin to agree with his politics and his attitudes but I respect his right to have had...
Yeah I never understand why some towns 'need' a second branch of a shop. Hanley (Stoke on Trent) now has 2 branches of Poundland yet neither has ever been all that hectic! I can only presume the original one (in the less popular end of the Potteries shopping centre) is costing them buttons to rent!
