I happen to live on the north end of the route and as you say it appears most of the stations have or are in the process of being refurbed, but apart from the " new fancy" destination boards I cant see that a few tins of PINK paint justify the constant rises in fares.

I have nothing good to say about First, but I do think they should change the name of their Bedford-Brighton service to First Capital CON!!!!! because thats exactly what it is. They boast how many stations and trains they have refurbed buts its all at our expense, bring back BR I say!

I have recently been working on a page for my website about kings cross/thameslink and thought it would be a great idea to add some bits about the good old british rail days, has anyone any images of the underground station or the BR station from the 80s. cheers paulo

Im a firm believer in renationalising the railways, the 80s saw the demise of british railways as well as the industry as a whole, its just another thing britain had and screwed up!

During a recent visit to crewe I came across a surviving intercity ATP, can anyone throw some light on as to why this train was scrapped off so early in its life.

Croxley just outside watford is still standing, the station along with watford west and watford stadium closed in 1996, the branch from watford high street can still be seen though largely overgrown.

thats right yes, I was in the process of removing underframe fixings ready to lift the 4 cars.
