MMS Service...

Just a general question here,

Bought my new phone last week, the Sony Ericsson K550i. I didn't think about the MMS till someone sent me a photo on Tuesday, I couldn't download it. So I went onto Sony Ericsson's website and filled out my details to set the MMS up.

It said wait at least 48hrs for the text to come through. Well its Friday and nothing! So I went online to see if I could set it up manually. There's plenty of help to set it up but when I try to edit the settings of the service (in this case, O2 WAP GPRS) it says its not available.

Any help?

If it's a new phone you brought, assuming it's locked to O2, it should have the settings etc. already installed. Try the txt msg thing again, I take it you went to o2.co.uk? Then 'Help & support', 'Get O2 Active and MMS settings', then follow instructions from there. If that fails, might be just busy as people setting up phones for xmas, you'll have to call Customer Services, & thelll do it for you there & then over the phone. Hope this helps.

Thats what I thought, yes its locked to o2. That's why I was confused that I couldn't download the message. But yes, I did do the things above and still cant do it, sucks really...

This may sound strange but I once had this problem and someone told me to send an mms to myself, not sure how but it activated my mms.

Tried sending myself one, just stayed in my outbox. Tried to get my brother to send one, didn't even come through. This sucks really.

iPhone's are rubbish, both in price, & compared to other new phones out there that have better facilities the iPhone lacks, even basic ones. Obviously, this is a personal view, at the end of the day it's up to you if you wanna waste £269, when you can spend less that on a far better Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola that meets your needs, & have change left over.

the iPhone browser doesnt even support flash. Has what, 8gb memory? And its bragging you can play music on it... what's new? The touch screen?

Contact O2 on the phone and they should send the settings to you. It should have been set up before you bought the phone anyway. I had alot of trouble getting my w810i's MMS to work when I switched from my MDA (which pee'd me off too much).
Patience is a virtue Loader, just keep trying and it'll work eventually.

Playing around with my phone all day and finally got it to work through manually editing the settings myself. Thanks all who suggested help.

I'm very dissatisfied with the sony ericson I have . Too slow, crappy interface and small keys.

I think I'd choose the iPhone. It looks sleeker, has a display twice the size and looks like you could use it without reading a manual, access something with 2 button presses. I'm not fussed about spreadsheets, databases, yank networks, GSM and wifi will do me.

No why don't apple make a computer I can operate with a touch screen ?

I think the good thing about the iPhone is that although it's not particularly "cheap" - it's very UI friendly and the 3G version should improve it.

Are you on pay as you go?

Make sure you set all you're settings onto "o2 WAP Prepay" in all the options that you can. May take some looking around

I have an Iphone sitting here & I about to swap it for a LG 21 inch TFT with Built in FV , I think its a terrible phone I was really Angry at my GF for buying me it, Who in this day & age would produce a "So Called top Notch Fone" with a Camera spec which dates back to 2004 & with no flash to boot , It is certainly the most unwanted Xmas gift I have had this year I asked my Local Cash Converters last night if they would be interested in it & they agreed to give me a straight swap with out any Haggling or augment, saves all the hassle of EBAYING it thought I may have got £50 - 100 more as this version is Sim & Contract Free

What Model is it Mate? The Girlfriend has a z610 & its crap But I have the K750i the w800i & the K800i & they are all superb

I take it you have one Tom Seeing your loyalty to Apple ?& I must say in its favour It has a wonderful screen , but My N95 8GB does everything I need to do, so I am better using it as currency than letting it gather dust & then de-value when I-Phone 2 launches

I think the iPhone is too overrated and with it been only available on o2 it's very pricey. The cheapest (£35) only gives you 200 texts and minutes, which is quite poor when some tariffs are all most double that. Plus you have to pay £269 for the phone itself. So your paying £899 over 18 months, overpriced. You can get better PDA and minutes/texts for nearly half that price.

I have a W880i on Orange, the signal is very reliable but one of the small buttons has broken within 2 months. Obviously phones aren't built to last these days, within a year people get upgrades.

I don't have an iPhone but I do plan to get one when the 3g version comes out and my Blackberry contract expires. Besides - the iPhone only would devalue more due to the fact that they use the same brand name for all the different versions, whereas Nokia can give different codenames. But still - everything devalues.

Erm - one thing. £35 may be 200 minutes and 200 texts, but it also includes the data allowance (which isn't cheap - Blackberry packages are £10 extra on most operators). I consider the phone to be an iPod Touch (£199) plus a phone (£70) - which when you look at it that way is quite reasonable.

So your paying £899 over 18 months, overpriced. You can get better PDA and minutes/texts for nearly half that price.

Depends where you look - decent PDAs can be quite expensive.
