HS2 could cost up to £102.7bn and trains won't start until at least 2036

I get it that some people having been dragging their heels saying they don't want hs2 being built in their back yards which I dare say has added to the build time but I think it's An embarrassment to modern day engineering that this project is taking so long to do from Inception to completion...

    Buying and using a oystercard

Please forgive me if I am asking this in the wrong section. Next month I am travelling down to London Euston from Rugby with my other half and a 13 year old, we will be going to Battersea power station and will be using the underground to get there from Euston, and from what I understand is...

    Questionnaire - Extended Project Qualification

I think you also need to take into consideration how majority of the modern british railways network is based on old victorian routes and to this day how that effects routes, stations and the daily running of it (including closed lines and stations). And compaired to japanese railways where they...

    Station location from the 80s

@parcel Just out of interest can you remember if you crossed the river thames at all or remember seeing any landmarks or even the type of train it was you went on? I know it's like a needle in haystack, especially when trying to find somewhere 30-40 years later which would look totally different...

The UK and white elephant stations

Even though it's not built yet, I am going to say HS2 and The Birmingham interchange Station :D I think if that station will ever be built, it would be served quite nicely by the Northampton loop services, but I'd say the people who would in theory use it will be commuters to the London region...

Why is the UK so bad at railways?

Be careful pgat, someone might say that rail was a lot better before the beeching cuts! ;) I personally think that not only rail, but public transport as a whole in the uk needs to be better ran with a far greater system implemented for better integration hubs with rail/bus/transit/Road. I...

Trivia: Electrification that's (likely) never been used.

Just out of interest traction is booked to go down the wired Aston-Stechford in Birmingham? I have a sneaking suspicion it might be used for ecs moves, can anyone confirm this?

Trivia: Stations that lost their suffix

Can Wolverhampton (high level) be classed losing a suffix? Also Leamington spa, far as I recall it gained a suffix (and lost another) as the the station originally opened as Leamington, had spa added to it after and then the name was changed again to Leamington Spa General.

Why is WCML punctuality so terrible, and are there any times of day it runs well?

I travelled from Birmingham international this afternoon to Rugby, and there was blockage between there (bhm international) and Berkswell southbound, but it was the other way around though. An avanti pendolino service had an issue/fault near berkswell (that service got delayed by 25 minutes)...

TRIVIA: The biggest settlement with a passenger line but no station

A town only with a paltry 10,000 , Desborough also has the MML running through it, used to have a station though but on that site it's a co-op car park (And a good one to spot at too :) )

Back to the bad old days’: swingeing rail cuts set alarm bells ringing

Good Morning all If it's all about saving money whilst still running the railway in an effiicent manner, surely it should be a case of looking at the top of the food chain to see whom is earning the most for doing very little, as i'd dare say that there maybe people whom work within the railway...
