Buying and using a oystercard

Please forgive me if I am asking this in the wrong section.

Next month I am travelling down to London Euston from Rugby with my other half and a 13 year old, we will be going to Battersea power station and will be using the underground to get there from Euston, and from what I understand is that only 1 person can travel on 1 oystercard.

So will I have to get 3 separate oystercards or can I get some kind of travel card ? And can do this in advance at my local (non tfl) station or via the tfl website?

Last time I was down in London and used the underground was years ago!

For adults who do not get any beneficial pricing , is there actually any advantage of an Oyster card over a contactless bank card now? I seem to recall when Oyster cards first introduced, contactless bank cards were not a thing.

You can buy various day travelcards for each person covering the return from Rugby to London plus the underground, train & bus services in London.
If relevant, what day and time of day do you expect to be travelling?
This is a ticket you can buy on the day, at Rugby station.
You can also discount the price with a Family & Friends railcard.

An Oyster card costs £10.50 just for the card. You can use a contactless bank card in exact same way at no initial cost. Fares are the same for both and you can create an account on the TfL website to see the account history. Each person needs their own contactless card or Oyster card and must tap in and out with the same card.

Unless you need to add the young visitor discount, or a railcard discount there is no benefit to paying the extra to get the Oyster card.
