Should physical barriers be installed to prevent access to platforms shortly before trains depart?

It's how London Waterloo, Charing Cross, London Bridge and Euston terminal platforms were worked for decades until ticket barriers were installed. (And probably the others that I didn't use.) Euston still has gates on some platforms.

Anytime Single Leuchars to Falkirk same price as Anytime Return ?

This is often the case for journeys in the Glasgow suburban area too. May possibly be an artifact of how scrapping peak pricing differences was done.

TransPennine Express: "Fault with the catering trolley"

Dodgy wheels, obviously. Whether or not it had dodgy wheels, this is a positive - trolleys in aisles are nuisance and I'd prefer to see the end of them. A "fixed" trolley makes more sense.

GWR two passengers left behind at Paddington

The rearmost door isn't for public use, it goes to the kitchen.

Why doesn't North America have train sheds / pleasant platforms?

When the London terminuses were built they'd have been more open, e.g. with cab roads etc.

Forced to pay fine in cash at London Liverpool Street

You're the first person to mention MPs in this thread.

Unpopular opinion: IETs are perfectly fine, for the most part.

I've only used 805s so perhaps I'm lucky, but based on thise I don't really understand the massive dislike of the Hitachi trains sometimes expressed on here. The 805 has a good seating layout, proper vestibules and the only criticisms I have that spring to mind are pretty picky - the manual...

Trainline to be investigated for not including fees in prices

Do we have any evidence that Trainline have done this?

    TfL wheelchair priority

You don't need to assume that. All taxis in London have been wheelchair accessible for donkeys years.

Delay - no repay or not to repay? Is that the question?

Some overthinking here. The answer here is: as you know the system and how it works, claim from TOC A in the first place.

TIR - failure to provide alternative format

That's not the meaning of reasonable here, and what is being suggested isn't that the person asks someone to read it for them, rather that the TOC could offer to read it - which is something that does happen in practice. In this case though, I wouldn't be surprised if there's an element of...

Free Bus Travel for young people: Soon to be in England.

What's the supposed benefit of this? Where are the kids on the bus going to and why?

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

Weren't class 455 (4 car) and class 456 (2 car) combinations also used to make up 10 car trains, so the same cab could be on an 8 or 10 car train? (Or 2, 4 or 6 cars!)

Disruption at St Pancras (Possible Bomb Threat) 18/08/26

As exactly that happens all across the country every day it's rather easy to imagine that train of thought.

How should Network Rail go about returning personal items after the Lewes incident?

Anything can get nicked when you're not looking. Where are your passport and keys at the moment? I'll bet they're not both on your person. You're right that caution and preparedness is in general a good thing, but dear me this thread is dripping in sanctimony! 1787065034 I have a spare key...
