Not sure this quite counts for the purposes of this thread, but vaguely recall once being on an internal flight inbound to London Gatwick Airport where the cabin crew were endeavouring to sell rail tickets valid for the Gatwick Express into London Victoria.

Likely will be asked for the price of an undiscounted Off Peak Single from Manchester Stations to Bristol Temple Meads (= £114.40), or £122.60 if charged at the Anytime Single rate, PLUS a three figure fee on top, perhaps some £150.00 or £175.00. No credit given for what's already been paid...

Delay Repay claim from XC? What can legitimately be claimed? The cost of the travel on XC plus the Northern advance? But has the OP intentionally delayed themselves by waiting for the 1848?

The £65 ticket is likely to be an Off Peak Day Single (Route ✠SOUTHERN & WMT) and is only good as far as Crewe. From Crewe onwards to Wem, an Anytime Day Single would be an additional £12.90. As the OP is contemplating a return trip, there's always the possibility of buying a walk-up Off Peak...

I'd say the 4 days in 8 Freedom of North East Rover is NOT valid on Grand Central or Hull Trains. Valid on CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London North Eastern Railway, Lumo, Northern and TransPennine Express. Anyone able to definitively confirm?

It doesn't. From Huddersfield, you'd need the through ticket to be to destination 'GM METROLNK Z1' to travel in the City Centre. It's an extra £1.40 for an adult single within Metrolink Zone 1 if/when such ticket is needed to be bought separately.

Indeed. The 0622 and 0822 TfW departures from Birmingham New Street both seem only to be running as far as Shrewsbury.

If the timings work, why not, but the direct TPE to Victoria runs only once per hour and doesn't normally operate on Sundays.
