Northern have finally got the message and are running 6 car trains between Liverpool and Manchester Airport. Although reinstating the 2nd train per hour would be preferable...a longer train will do for the time being

I’ve just got off a train from Ormskirk at Liverpool Central. As soon as the train exited the link tunnel and entered the old Mersey railway tunnel, I noticed that there was a fire in the 4 foot on the opposite (Moorfields bound) track! Liverpool central station is currently being evacuated.

The train manager said they couldn't risk it going pop again with passengers on board after it happening twice in quick succession, so they had been advised by stadler to take the unit out of service. I wonder if this is standard procedure now?

Because I just got on a Liverpool bound train at Hunts Cross from platform 2 for the first time ever. I’m guessing it’s got a lot to do with the 2x 777s currently occupying platform 3.
