Both Rhymney and Treherbert have units stabled overnight, and in addition, both have traincrew depots (although not large by my understading).
Regarding stabling at Ebbw Vale - aside from security concerns with keeping a unit there overnight, Rhymney depot is only 6 miles from Ebbw Vale, so...
I noticed today that 150227 is now in the new livery. However, when I saw it come into Energlyn and Churchill Park it didn't look quite right. When I got on it I realised why. Not only has the exterior been repainted, but its interior has been refreshed too (a bit surprising considering it was...
Thank you all. Like I said I've always known it to be permitted, so it did confuse me when he was adamant it wasn't. It was more the guard's stubborn attitude when he still didn't believe it and said it quite loud in the carriage in front of other passengers saying that it wasn't permitted even...
Hello,
I wonder if you can help. This morning I bought an anytime day return from Pengam to Cardiff. Because I had an appointment until 12:30 in Caerphilly I decided to break my journey there as it has always been my understanding that breaks of journey are permitted on both outward and return...
Not all the 153s look immaculate. 153353 and 367 look decent, but the rest of the fleet look tired. 153327 is completely faded on one side, and is still running around with a large graffiti tag on its roof above the new cab's driver side that the 'artist' (using the term very, very loosely...)...
No. When the ex Anglian units were transferred to Arriva Trains Wales they had a different type of Chapman seating with a gap on the top of the seats (I cannot think of the correct term!). Somewhere I have a photo of 150213 at Newbridge shortly after the Ebbw Vale Line reopened in February 2008...
Sorry to bring up an old topic, but how long has 150002 been working diagrams away from the Reading area after its work at SPM? I ask because I saw it terminate with 2U20 at Cardiff Central yesterday afternoon.
Thanks.
I noticed last Sunday that former Valley Lines unit 150278 has received both the new livery and the new grey seat covers (minus the tip ups). The interior walls remain unpainted in grey though like the other ex Valley Lines and Wessex units. I know another ex Valley Lines unit, 150279 has...
merlodlliw: I wonder why I too assumed it would be a Pacer
Thanks for the information. Obviously there's never an ideal time for a failure, but it was especially bad timing to happen at the start of rush hour on the only northbound platform at Queen Street!
Hello all.
There's large disruption tonight at Cardiff Queen Street with 2M46 failing and northbound trains now being delayed by up to an hour. I'm sorry to ask, but does anyone have an idea what unit failed and why, as it seems quite serious to require fitters an hour to get it moving again...
I caught 150240 today on 2R14, 14:02 Penarth to Rhymney in the old Arriva turquoise and cream livery, so that hasn't been repainted yet. Out of coincidence 143624 was working 2R16, 15:02 Penarth to Rhymney too (I'm sure that's a service usually booked for a 150).
