    It would be a nice idea for crossrail to have double deck trains however I would imagine that if you increase the diameter of a tunnel after going through initial designs, it would cost millions. Not only that you would have to rectify the clearance issues on the Great Eastern.

    That explains why I kept getting a wifi signal on certain pendolinos. The SSID's were named tests, so I am assuming that the roll out is imminent.

    The notches in cabs acts like variable resistors. They control the amount of current flowing through the motors. The 'noise' you hear from the motors are indeed GTO thyristors. You always hear some type of syncronous noise with induction motors (AC).
