    Thank you very much.

    No "Any Permitted" fare

Section A of the Routeing Guide seems to contain some relevant statements but I cannot find any that applies literally. The closest, I think, is this one, under "CALCULATING EXCESS FARES": "Where a journey is undertaken by an alternative route to that for which the ticket was originally...

    No "Any Permitted" fare

I'm afraid I have some doubts about the quote from the Routeing Guide. Doesn't "it" in the sentence in boldface refer to An "any permitted" ticket from the previous sentence? I remember seeing the "higher priced vs lower priced" principle somewhere, but it may have been just in forum...

    No "Any Permitted" fare

Yes, that's right, SWR. Thanks once again!

    No "Any Permitted" fare

Thank you both for the advice! Yes, I was looking for the cheaper/more expensive route rule but with no success. In the scenario where I'm getting the via London ticket but end up travelling on CrossCountry: "by the book" if I get to Reading then I should (basically) either ask a GWR train...

    No "Any Permitted" fare

I would like to buy an off-peak return from Kenilworth to Egham. I see three fares (and three routes) on brfares: ✠VIA HIGH WYCOMBE (restriction WM) set by Chiltern, ✠VIA LONDON (restriction 2C) set by Avanti, and VIA OXFORD (restriction 2V) set by Crosscountry. There is no "Any Permitted"...

Cross Country 'Ten Minute Reservations' by SMS - have they stopped?

In August 2023 their robot did text me back (saying no seat was available on the service I wanted). In March 2024 it didn't, and when I went to check the relevant web page, I found out the page was gone...

    CrossCountry delay repay 23/6/2024

Some TOCs have the reason "Train too busy to board" available on their Delay Repay form, and some other TOCs (such as CrossCountry) don't. A few months ago I asked for compensation from CrossCountry for the delay on these grounds (overcrowding). I sent them an email with a picture of my tickets...

Is ‘train station’ replacing ‘railway station’ in UK passenger rail terminology?

There's also 'rail station' ;) (Just googling for 'rail station bridge'...)

Ticket to/from London Underground Zone 2 -- from TVM?

Thank you. I'm reasonably certain that I tried to key in "Zone" first and there were no options starting with Z whatsoever. But again I may be mistaken, so I'll have another go on Wednesday. Indeed, at the moment this looks like a good type of ticket to turn to the ticket office for!

Ticket to/from London Underground Zone 2 -- from TVM?

I have bought online and successfully used a ticket from "London Underground Zone 2" to Shalford (Surrey), not valid via London Terminals, for 10.95 when discounted with a Network Railcard. Is there a way to specify "London Underground Zone 2" (for journeys avoiding Zone 1) when buying a ticket...
