Have I made the right decision moving TOC?

Not now as I'm at a different depot, but I travelled around 1hr 15 to my depot when I had a depot within a mile of my house. I done that for years, but I rather that and being less stressed than at a metro depot stopping every minute. Yep sometimes when it goes wrong it's a pain, but you do get...

Qualified Driver recruitmant for norwich depot

If it's GA, then they were looking for qualified drivers and then putting them into a holding pool. Thats what the drivers said who i mix with (They're not Norwich drivers). They said if they needed drivers on the quick, they could use the drivers from the holding pool instead of training...

Elizabeth Line vs Overground as a driver?

Looking at the OOC transfer list, there are loads waiting to move to Maidenhead. Problem is, GTSR is quite a young company for drivers, so unless there is a massive exit from Maidenhead you have no chance in getting there.

Greater Anglia - Trainee Driver - Recruitment Discussion

At the moment, Colchester and Clacton have spare links with drivers in them. They will progress into the main link when they have vacancies. I was told that if they need drivers on the quick, i.e ramp up the service they can hand pick the qualified drivers as the training will not be as long...

Elizabeth Line vs Overground as a driver?

It's not productive for East drivers to drive to Reading. The only case would be if GTSR had direct trains from Sheffield, which is not happening as no more paths are available on the West. Drivers relieve at Padd low level but its rare or if you're driving on the East, that will be Gidea Park...

Elizabeth Line vs Overground as a driver?

That came in just a year or so ago. So if you’re in a good state of Health!!!! you could get an extra 4 days over the year. If you didn’t choose to use the days every 1/4 it gets banked, so you will get an extra £1400 in January if your entitled to 4, and if you do loads of OT, you also get your...

    Police to Railway

Never in the police, but we have most of Essex and North London at my depot. (Drivers) lol All have no regrets when talking in the mess room and happy driving. Most have said, the police force is not what it used to be, and did the police take a hit on their pensions? Also a big pay rise for...

    Struggling with shifts

Im not sure if this has been said, so I apologise if advance. I understand your not a driver, but as a driver myself, have you gone through the flexible working arrangement. If you can't sleep for some reason, or can only sleep for a few hours then your up, could you not ask to see the...

Freightliner - Qualified Driver - Tilbury / London Gateway (14/01/24)

Intermodal has always been good. I started there when we got tuped in 1998 I think.......Link wise, weekends were very limted and seeing drivers today, pretty much the same. I left a number of years ago as I felt under valued. Looking at Avanti and LNER drivers pay and conditions at the time was...

    Driver ‘Must-haves’

I'm Old school as well, but yes you should have a company logo on HV vests. It was something to do with people walking round places and not working on the railway. You may have heard of the story from the 80s, when a guy used to relieve trains on the Southern and he was a train spotter, but had...

From FOC to TOC, any regrets?

I moved from Freight 7 years ago to a TOC after 31 years. The only downside is the repetitive work, everyday is the same. On the freight it's different every day and your the boss. Pass work, you do get looked after I think as a whole. I miss the freight but would I go back....Noooooooooooo...

    Lumo - Qualified Driver - Newcastle (17/01/24)

I'm not sure why people are so against lodges....We lodged at Freightliner Intermodal for over 20 years, sometimes 2 a week. We did get payments from them, either 3 or or 5 hours pay with everything paid for..They were the best days of my life.....As much as I love my family, I had no school...
