Railway Performance Society "Fastest Times" over the "main" main lines (Jul 2026 edition)

Interesting.... On the ECML, I wonder what the record is from Kings Cross to York. Many moons ago I remember exactly 100 mins on an HST, 113.4 mph average. Slight fudge as we were early and stopped just outside the station waiting for a platform.

What does the railway do with under 18s in the event of severe disruption?

As a taxi driver, I have to say the under 18 thing is not correct. All (legal) taxi drivers need to be fully dbs checked and passed, most do school contract work and may often convey minors. In simple words, if they are untrustable, they should be off the road. Maybe a phone call to a parent or...

    2W09 Scarborough to Hull delay

This service left Scarborough on time apparently, but was 29 mins late leaving Seamer, just 5 mins away. Anyone know what happened? (3 April).

    4 track v HS2

Interesting what debate I started, but my point of lack of 4 tracking in the far north seems to have become advantages of an extra double track in the south. Like everything else in this country, its time the north was prioritised over the south for a change.

    4 track v HS2

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but, wonder if people agree with me that HS2 money would have been better spent on making 2 track busy lines into 4 track, especially on the very northern parts of ECML and WCML. Thinking of the derailment today, the pressure on ECML will be very high, but no...

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

Ever choosing a Saturday to end the service 13 timetable is completely nuts, as the big fall in holiday camp holidays will be after the weekend at the end of the half term holidays. The buses would go very quiet from lunchtime Monday. Maybe they will rethink next year? Similar to them missing...

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

I see today, service 13 has ended for the winter, leaving tourists waiting at bus stops, and big camp site departure day tomorrow. 2 days two early it looks like, bit of a mess up by eyms it would seem.

So will there be more in that livery to do the A170 route, or is it random mixed liveries again

    Extra 185s at Scarborough

Thankyou for that. Begs an interesting question....If there are 12 185 cars at Scarborough overnight, can 3 sets go into the TMD, as it was designed for 2 sets of 68+mk5?

    Extra 185s at Scarborough

Last couple of early mornings, seem to be extra 185 3 cars, on platforms 1 and 2. No movements shown on rtt. What is happening?

    Doncaster Sheffield Airport to reopen?

4,000 homes, enough to attract a new airport.

Buses that serve schools/educational places outside of school/educational hours (weekends/holidays etc)

The odd extra 12 running bridlington to Scarborough as 12C, to UTC and Coventry uni building seems to be running all summer hols.
