Edinburgh to Glasgow - lack of WiFi, help needed

Why does Wifi have to be provided via lineside only, why not use a satellite system complemented by terrestrial 3G? The 'dish' used on the Mark IV's has already been mentioned, but that is technology already a decade old and I've no doubt it has improved since then in both size, cost and...

Edinburgh to Glasgow - lack of WiFi, help needed

Clip, Presumably, therefore, you'd advocate scrapping Wifi access with East Coast/Virgin as well, seeing as it is unnecessary bearing in mind 3G coverage and the ability to work offline? Let's not forget that not everyone uses it for purely business reasons - plenty use it for 'leisure'...

Railcard dropped onto track - will she have got it back?

As far as I'm aware the right to refuse unsafe work is actually enshrined in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and its subsequent amendments, therefore every working man in the UK has such a right, Union/TOC approval or not.

    Dalmally Railway Station

When first opened I'd be surprised if there was less than half a dozen men employed there.

    A blast from the past....

I was on an Inverness-Aberdeen service recently, and the Guard was quite obviously an ex BR veteran, going by his mannerisms and the fact he looked 60+. On the approach to Aberdeen, whilst doing the usual arrival preamble, e.g. "We'll soon be arriving in, take your luggage etc", he referred to...

Edinburgh to Glasgow - lack of WiFi, help needed

Why must it require an increase in passenger patronage to be justifiable? I'd suggest that with our ever busier and more expensive railway which is operating in a world which is ever more electronically connected, wifi would be a valuable asset in improving the travel 'experience', not to...

More like more subliminal brainwashing, something else for Staff to raise an eyebrow to and then ignore forever more.

Edinburgh to Glasgow - lack of WiFi, help needed

The point still stands that if it's economically viable for a bus operator to fit wifi then there must surely be a case for a rolling stock installation, especially if a nominal (i.e. sub £1) charge is made for say an hours use. I would suggest that fitting Wifi to the First Class fitted...

Illegal Fox hunt takes place on railway line

Another non story designed to whip up the emotions of anti hunt brigade. The hounds ran onto the line unintentionally and were immediately called back - no offence, no delays and no problem. Personally I've never seen the point of Fox Hunts as they're rather inefficient, in my part of the world...

Snail, They're the same people who would argue over the colour of grass. Many members of this forum whine and moan about the journalistic language used in certain newspapers, yet a good number of those very same members use the same such language in this forum - a prime example being the various...

Children in Seats - OAP's standing...

You're probably not far off the mark there to be honest.

Children in Seats - OAP's standing...

Well if last night's shambles at Queen Street is anything to go by, it comes down purely to the level of panic amongst station staff/BTP.

Children in Seats - OAP's standing...

Regardless, as a child such actions were instilled in me, and no doubt many other members of this forum as simple 'good manners'. Admittedly such daft notions seem very antiquated in these enlightened times.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Let's not forget that the bottom falling out of Sea Containers had no small part to play in it all.
