FCC Drivers - no Sunday working

You misunderstood me. I wasn't inferring that Virgin use drivers who don't sign the traction to drive the train, I was quoting an earlier quote by "Carlisle" that Virgin had hired DBS drivers to route conduct who didn't sign the traction as some companies allow this but others insist that the...

FCC Drivers - no Sunday working

Not all companies have the same policies. Virgin seem to be more proffesional when it comes to running trains & they are not scared of using commom sense. Northern certainly wont use other drivers if they don't sign the traction. Virgin make more of an effort as Northern just keep using the...

When did direct Kings Cross - Cleethorpes services end?

There were through trains running at least until May 1993 but I'm not sure how much longer they lasted after that. The Winter 92/93 timetable shows:- Mon-Fri 0612 Cleethorpes-King's Cross 1750 King's Cross-Cleethorpes Sat 0612 Cleethorpes-King's Cross 1830 King's Cross-Cleethorpes...

FCC Drivers - no Sunday working

With reference to some of the comments saying that other TOC's/FOC's could step in & help out. Most companies have a policy where you can only route conduct if you actually sign the traction. Also, it is not as easy as it sounds just to hire in other drivers to cover when short, agreements have...

Northern Rail: our trains will get even busier but we can't do anything about it

That is the problem, they have plenty of "Litter Pickers" but no many actual cleaners.

Northern Rail: our trains will get even busier but we can't do anything about it

That is why they are called Peds. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I think all Northern senior management should be forced to travel on other TOC's & then forced to travel on Northern's (I bet some of them never use trains). Maybe then they can see how shabby Northern trains are...

    Class 87 sleeper trains

To be honest I don't recall seeing many sleepers with 87's on. Roarers seemed to used quite a lot for some reason. Could it have been something to do with maintenance schedules (AL6/7 working throughout the day & then having their exams in the night).

FCC Drivers - no Sunday working

Trans-Pennine don't use DBS drivers. Anyway, speaking of Rest Day Working, some TOC's do not work rest days as ASLEF wont allow it so if no cover is available the train gets cancelled. Many drivers are willing to work but are not allowed. So much for representing your members.
