    125mph frieght?

Ah, thank you for the correct info. I could only assume it was Royal Mail, as i had no previous knowledge of Red Sttar operations. Adam

    125mph frieght?

Couple of them dotted around Darlington too. I assume its an old (not removed) sign for some form of royal mail drop in service. Adam

    IEP Annoucement

Don't i know it! The new engine have a daft computer built into them, if it all goes wrong and doesn't want to play. We have to call someone out from Leeds to reset the computer, which takes an hour to rest with a laptop. Why we engineers can't just have a 'depot' laptop to reset the...

For the HST fans among us.

I can't recall any really spectacular failures. But i do direct you to these youtube links: Rear HST deciding it doesn't like its traction motors any more: Best start at time index 0:20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXcR8YfDiys Another HST presumably with more traction motor...

    Eurostars back on the ECML?

Aye, i remmeber a NoL set being dragged through Darlington Bank Top, by x2 class 37s lead by 37603 (I think). Complete with styrofoam attachments to the front and sides of the set, if any styrofoam was damaged it would ofcourse indicate a gauging problem. Can't say i know enough about the...

    Eurostars back on the ECML?

I'd like to see Eurostars back on ECML. However i don't think, they'll suite the EC livery as well as the GNER livery. I'd also like to see, them go beyond Leeds / York. Maybe as far as Newcastle, or even the full hog to Edinburgh. Not sure if there would be a platform space / length issue...

    Rubbish on the trackside

Agreed. The main problem is its hard to prove who dumps what. Only if they are caught red handed, or there is proof in the litter of whom or where it came from. Is it likely to come to a fine or court hearing. Adam.

    125mph frieght?

Lessons would be learnt from the loss of the EWS / Royal Mail trains. Companies like DHL, UPS, Fedex, Royal Mail, TNT, ect... Would be locked into a 20 year deal or more by the fright operator, to ensure a good return on loco / wagon investments. Adam

    Rubbish on the trackside

    125mph frieght?

Well i would assume containers are ok. I realise 125mph coal is extremely unlikely.... Hence i never mentioned the idea in the opening thread. Unless ofcourse we see a dedicated 125mph frieght line, with 20mile sections between signals. (again exetremely unlikely) If HS2 takes enough...

    125mph frieght?

I came across this vid of 125mph frieght working in France. The train length is much shorter than that of UK frieght atm, but the princible of large brake discs is the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWXDSb6U5P0 Adam

An alternative to HS2 route, follow the M40?

Then i thank you for your hard work. Adam

    125mph frieght?

Well yes i know this. That is why i suugested a new wagon design with triple brake disks, like that Mk4 metro camell coaches have the EC use. To distribute braking along the length of the train equally, and having superior braking, compared to conventional on wheel brake blocks. I agree...

An alternative to HS2 route, follow the M40?

Just a year or 2 before BR was sold if, it was getting its act together and was making head way. Just think if BR existed today, with todays funding. I recall someone in the rail press saying that todays funding is x3 times that of BR days. BR with x3 times the funding to spend on APT, maybe...
