What happens if barrier retains ticket later needed for delay repay?

I have just made a delay repay claim with West Midland Trains having a Magstripe ticket & they needed a picture of it either cut in half or defaced. It specifically stated editing the picture to deface it was not acceptable .

Lewes derailment - Thursday 13th August

A friend of mine was one of the very first responders at Grayrigg in 2007 and he said it took far too long to get confirmation that the electric Overhead was off and would stay off. I trust the process is improved nearly 20 years on

Anybody had a train wait for them a minute or more as you ran along the platform/footbridge?

Earlier this year the guard opened the doors again for me at Newtown (NWT) after he had started the depatch sequence . I had just finished purchasing my ticket at the machine which is hidden under the canopy and rushed out to the train as the doors finished closing.

Carriage displays and seat reservations reversed on splitting train (03/07)

I have had this happen on two or tree occasions in the last 17 years and now double check when I get on that I am in the correct carriage

Why are some staff so ignorant about ticketing matters?

I had an issue with staff refering to an OFF PEAK train last week . Return portion of an off peak Period return Hereford to Worcester . The restriction code is CS , eg Not valid on any train timed to depart after 04:29 and before 09:00. I asked at Hereford ticket office if I could excess it to...

Delay Repay - Which TOC to Claim From

I had a similar situation with GWR running late, which meant I would have missed my TFW train at Newport. If fact that TFW train was cancelled . I claimed from GWR as they caused the first delay & they paid straight away.

Delay repay responsibility - connection would have been missed if not for delay to subsequent train

I had a experience with a delayed GWR service from Bristol which meant I would miss my connection at Newport for the TFW service to Hereford .In the event my planned TFW service was cancelled so the GWR delay was in theory irrelevant regarding the final delay. I was advised to claim from GWR as...

West Midland Railways not recognising valid route for Delay Repay

I tried manually entering the start time and each leg and it didnt find the GWR train to WOP. I could manually enter the other two legs. This might also explain why last year I did the same journey via WOP , in reverse , and arrived back at Great malvern 47 mins later than planned due to a...

West Midland Railways not recognising valid route for Delay Repay

On 20 /03/26 I travelled from Great Malvern GMV ( 08:56) to Birmingham International BHI via Worcestershire Parkway WOP and Birmingham New Street BHM . The last leg , 10:06 West midland train to BHI was showing delayed so I got the later Avanti train instead . The following day I set out to...

Delay Repay with Ranger Ticket TFW

Perhaps I didnt make myself clear. If it were classed as a single ticket the repay would be 50% , I just wanted to know how they classify a Ranger & is 25% correct ? I cannot see any reference to Rangers on TFW web pages when calculating Delay Repay

Delay Repay with Ranger Ticket TFW

Last Friday ( 23/01/26) I used a Heart of Wales Circular Ranger starting and finishing at Leominster. I broke my journey at Swansea for circa an hour and then continued to Leominster via Cardiff, Newport and Hereford. The train to Cardiff from Swansea was delayed meaning I missed the planned...

"Doors will open on the left hand side" - whose left?

I also have never considered the issue. It may be because I have worked in the Auto industry all my working life , where left & right of the vehicle always refers to facing in the forward direction of travel.
