Welcome to the EMU Lover's Club

Yep, of course! having been on one from West Brompton to Brighton!

You will have to consult Great Northern Thameslink about thatCan I have my 20 years of service badge please![]()

Sorry but 309s are not hellfire anymore, there is a new name that applies to EMUs , it's called "Buzzfire"Tom C said:REP's make 321's sound quiet, now that is some proper lecky thrash!, grew up around EPB's, HAP's, CAP's, CIG's, VEP's, 302's, 309's (hellfire!) and trips to ride things like 504's. Electric units were always my main interest and still are apart from the three phase garbage coming in now and certainly not Pendolino's.
Buzzfire!Tom C said:I remember the Clapham to Kenny O shuttles being Thumper still
As for 319's done them to Sevenoaks, Guildford, Rugby and I get the pleasure of 5 or 6 daily runs to exotic Sutton.
Thanks Jim, don't worry i will be going on an HST soon and then a 56 at the NVR!Jim said:What you REALLY need is a nice bash from Cardiff to Rhy on 37425, 22? miles of uphill THRASH

Calm down dear!
It's only a rancid 319.. no need to froth!! :cwm10:
It's a 319...nah, it's the first 319/2 in Southern Livery
It's a 319...
Not being mean or anything bud but there's far more interesting traction out there..

I really can see how stubborn that cow Elaine Holt is really is, i've
noticed in the First Capital Connect Forum in the First Capital
Connect Website, that she was talking about the 13 Southern 319s, Do
you really reckon FCC should have the Southern 319s, I don't FCC
should have them at all, FCC should get the 180s for their express
routes and put the 365s on Local so that the Ex-BedPans can go to the
Thameslink route and help out with the Overcrowding Issues
thanks
Sometimes enthusiasm clouds wise judgement.... And, er, you're Silverlink_WCML never mind another "user"
Face it. If the 319s are surplus to Southern, then it makes sense to hire them out to another company who actually needs them. As long as they are suitable and get the commuters from work, how on Earth can you justify not doing so? FCC need as many units as they can get, even hiring in 317s. If you were in charge of Southern, you'd have 100mph dual voltage EMUs run on suburban routes, which are coping fine with 377s and 455s. Meanwhile, you'd let FCC commuters cope with short trains, waste money maintaining them when you can gain money lending them, whilst you'd have no practical use for them? Sounds like a great idea
And WTF is up with this mad 180 suggestion? Its more than daft to use diesels on a route which uses a single type of EMU. And Im sure the commuters in the city would prefer to travel through tunnels which don't stink of nasty smoke.....
What! Since when do 180s produce enough smoke to do that?
but the frequencey of the 180s working there wouldn't make it that noticeable.
Interesting to you maybe!
Doesn't mean to say that everyone has to share your opinion.
Calm down bud........its only a 40......no need to froth!!!
180's would DEFFINATALLY not be suited to these services, OHLE is for electric trains, that service doesn't use any diesel only lines, like say the HC, so why use a 180, if they wanted new trains, they should get some Desiros, they are VERY fast acclerating & braking, the air-con always works IMO & they are quite high capacity & the doors are fairly bad, in terms of the time it takes for them to shut, 377's have an advantage over this...
40145 happens to be the "only" mainline 40 at this present moment in time.
There's truckloads of 319s.. all the same bar different paint schemes.
Where did I say everyone has to share my opinion?
Why was there the need to jump down my throat?
Meanwhile, you'd let FCC commuters cope with short trains, waste money maintaining them when you can gain money lending them, whilst you'd have no practical use for them?
Its not quite as simple as that although you are quite right.
During the last Thameslink blockade, Southern subleased the 319's to Thameslink (both Go-Ahead franchises) because they were still using Mk1 stock on suburban diagrams so the 319's were not really needed at the time.
Before First took over all Southern and Thameslink were doing is swopping units around to keep unit mileage down i.e high mileage units working Southern suburban diagrams to put off the exams and the low mileage units put on Thameslink.
Southern now actually need something to cover the 319's current SU diagrams especially with 456's going off for refurbishment. To me the easiest option is 458's but it comes down to Porterbrook, South West Trains, Southern and First coming to an agreement plus you have the delay of getting train crew trained. I totally agree with that you say but common sense is in such short supply these days I think both companies will stay in stalemate until a higher power intervenes.
A 458/00 did a test run in the Southern suburbs a few weeks ago.....
You were implying that people should be interested in more "interesting traction" meaning you think that people should be interested in what you find interesting![]()
Wasnt any
Then again, no reason to tell people what they should and shouldn't like
Ermmm did i read that correctly? "Desiros aircon works all of the time..." Thats a bloody lie and you know it!
