Worst livery on a UK train?

I think I'm actually alone in that I didn't mind the One livery...

Nope, not alone. Silly name, nice bright and colourful livery. Could have doen something a little more adventurous with the locos/DVTs on the Norwich Intercity stock mind.

Connex white/yellow,
Anglia turquoise and (too much) white as applied to their 150s.

Best:
Anglia turquoise (but not on their 150s),
FGW blue,
GNER blue,
Mainline blue,
OK so I like blue.

Blast from the past here...used to see British Rail DMUs in white with a narrow blue stripe under the windows. Think it was on the Oxford, Leamington Spa line.

The 170s had the turquoise and white livery, not the 150s.The 150s had the nice Anglia colour scheme. :P

That was the standard livery for a refurbished DMU and it appeared just about everywhere in the country. I think it was dropped after a few years because of that old chestnut about keeping a predominantly white livery clean.

For one, it got rid of the silly rainbows, and the white stripe set it off nice. Only downside was it looked scruffy where they got rid of the rainbows. GNER, I think the white stripe looked better than the red one.

I can sort of see what you mean about the 'one' colours, the stripe breaks up the bodyside nicely. I don't like the livery overall because I was rather fond of the rainbows and where they were are either blue, black, or blue and black; depending on the carriage (mk3s). If they were painted black properly under where the rainbow used to be, it would be ok, but as you say its very untidy.

The worst example of the livery now is 321446 :P

I really like the National Express silver and white livery. It looked great on the HSTs. My least favourite livery would have to be the rather sickly teal and tangerine colours used by Midland Mainline back in 1997.

The current NXEA dirty white is disgusting. And I agree with HST Power about MML.

Elaine Holt loved the First Barbie design (to tie two current threads together).

I like the old Southern Railway green. Class.

Central Trains was always quite pleasing to look at, with the bright green that suited the sprinters; less so on their 170s.

I am very surprised no one has mentioned West Coast. This is the the most awful livery to get a good picture of. Even when just painted and in bright sunshine the locos look dark and drab.

Other Dislikes:

• Original 150/1 livery partcularly bad on 151s
• General all over grey
• GNER
• First Barbie looked stupid on 323s and 156s

Ive mentioned it a few posts back...Sludge Brown as it seems to have become known as...partly because when coupled up to West Coasts Maroon Mk1s, there's a pretty noticeable colour difference!

As i said before though, i certainly think the reverse Fragonset livery looked better with West Coasts locos - current livery still carried by 57601!

And then most of the other liveries, I guess I'm indifferent on!

It's a pity the ends have to be specifically yellow- I reckon London Overground would look much better if the front ends were in Overground Orange (making the livery more like the Underground and Tramlink).

With the FCC "City Lights" livery, I prefer the version on the 377/231 fleets, with the solid colour, to the original with the "fade".
