A 33 ball duck must have been an excruciating watch!
I find the Talksport2 cricket commentators to be an equally excruciating listen, so didn't catch much of the game

The coverage on Sky was pretty poor - the South African commentators tend to be a bit over-excitable, and then there's Mark Nicholas and his smugness, which really gets on my nerves

It's the shrieking Neil Manthorp and the incredibly smart arsed Jarrod Kimber that get my goat on Talksport2.

With a bit of jiggery pokery with VPNs and APKs and such, you can download the ABC app, and get the far superior Aussie commentators, so I may attempt that tonight in time for tomorrow morning's play

Curious talking point was opener Nic Maddinson playing his 1st Test Match for nearly 10 years. He faced 33 balls before he was out for a duck which apparently was the longest ever for an Aussie and the third worst in history.
Who'd of known that?
It was the 16th longest in Test history, and the second worst for an Australian. The longest was 77 balls, and the second longest was James Anderson, 55 balls at Headingley against Sri Lanka in 2014.

For completeness's sake, Geoff Allott holds the record for the longest duck (against South Africa in 1999 to help save a draw), which he described as the best duck he would ever score.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Great days play in Durban today. Oz won the toss and batted. They struggled to 4-84, recovered to 5-120 and finished early (bad light) @ 6-187, with Matt Renshaw 46 & Pat Cummins 33 the not out batsmen.
On day 2, Australia, slowly but surely recorded a reasonable 1st innings score of 390 all out after 137.2 overs.
Renshaw 190 with 1 x 6 and 21 x 4.

But he smashed the first ball of the Aussie second innings for 4, then hit the fifth ball for another boundary. Feast and famine this bloke!

South Africa eventually all out for 284, giving Australia a first innings lead of 106. In their second innings Australia are 33-0, with Maddinson on 17 from 19 balls, which includes a six, in addition to the two fours. Quite a transformation!

Oz dominated the first two sessions today declaring on 6-314 @ Tea with Matt Renshaw again being top scorer with 82.
South Afrika have 4 sessions to get 421 to win.
I expect they'll be pleading with the Umpires over the light at every opportunity as that's probably the only way they'll avoid defeat.

A very good day for Australia, with the hosts 4-102 @ the close, still needing 319 on the last day.
Matt Renshaw cemented his Man of the Match Trophy claim by taking the wicket of Temba Bavuma the Proteas Captain for 1 (his 1st Test Wicket.

Interesting first session with 2 more wickets being taken (Another one for Matt Renshaw!) leaving the Proteas 6-166 @ Lunch with opener Aiden Markram 69 not out.

South Afrika lost their last 4 wickets for 5 runs and finished on 206, losing by 214 runs.
Josh Hazlewood took a personal best of 6-49 off 16.5 overs
