Nice to see two moving at once from Wolverton.
Into a livery that'll almost certainly be obsolete by 2028!Both re-liveried?
Exactly! What a wasted opportunity to go for GBR (much though I dislike the livery). Short-termism rules supreme.Into a livery that'll almost certainly be obsolete by 2028!
GBR probably want the brand associated with functioning trains, rather than the 175s which have been ever so woeful this year!Exactly! What a wasted opportunity to go for GBR (much though I dislike the livery). Short-termism rules supreme.

An obsolete livery won't make any difference to how well the train operates, but it will make it look better than the GBR splodge.Exactly! What a wasted opportunity to go for GBR (much though I dislike the livery). Short-termism rules supreme.
My question is; is the considered opinion that if the 175s had not gone to storage as they did but transferred directly from their previous operator to GWR, would these problems have been avoided/greatly reduced? I am trying to form an unbiased view of the effect of storage on modern rolling stock, given that stock is so much more complex/delicate than a few decades ago.
Train running 28 late. The signallers even allowed a late running freight train go ahead of it at Foxhall Junction.
Into Swindon loop but let straight out. The late running trains will never catch it before it leaves the main line. Only 4 late.
Skipped Taunton and Tiverton loops so they're just going straight for Laira. They have made up some serious time 78 mins early at Exeter

Hopefully, if I remember correctly, these won't require too much work to get them into service. Presumably just the 1000 miles requirement.
I would have thought that any stock being repainted anyway now should be into the GBR livery, despite the fact that I much prefer the GWR one. This begs the question of how much other stock is destined to be repainted as a matter of course in existing TOCs' liveries, rather than the GBR one, and thus how long each TOC might only have one 'show' train in the new livery. An obsolete livery won't make any difference to how well the train operates, but it will make it look better than the GBR splodge.
It won't be short termism unless somebody decides to waste money repainting everything before their existing liveries need it.
I've seen them at Dawlish and pictures of them front and back at Melksham. They are supposed to be ready to run; so I wonder where they will go first. They are quick trains when given the chance.Skipped Taunton and Tiverton loops so they're just going straight for Laira.

175114 has seemingly completed it's fault free running, just been allocated to 2C32 from Plymouth.
That of course assumes that there is a finalised version of a GBR livery. If there isn’t, then GW green is as good as any.I would have thought that any stock being repainted anyway now should be into the GBR livery, despite the fact that I much prefer the GWR one. Indeed it has, and rather than have it sat doing nothing on Laira, why not bring it out to play! Gets people moving rather than cancelling the service.175114 has seemingly completed it's fault free running, just been allocated to 2C32 from Plymouth.
This was I think discussed much earlier in this thread and has certainly been discussed elsewhere. Basically the contract for the refurbishment was let well before plans for a GBR livery.I would have thought that any stock being repainted anyway now should be into the GBR livery, despite the fact that I much prefer the GWR one. Good things take time, it's great to watch the impressive efforts to get the units working again, don't rush it!Indeed it has, and rather than have it sat doing nothing on Laira, why not bring it out to play! Gets people moving rather than cancelling the service.
There are a fair few now that have passed their 1000 miles which isnt too shabby, getting to a point where we can once again use them on adhoc services.

Will say, does look a bit odd that everything is freshly painted except the solebar which is still in faded TfW grey.
Certainly looks like it from one of the videosDo we know if any or both of todays units have had any interior refresh in GWR schemes which I think was suggested a long time back ?
