At least this one can't go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, given that CAS decided that Man City (owned by the Abu Dhabi government) didn't cheat with their Etihad sponsorships. CAS reasoned that because Etihad (owned by the Abu Dhabi government) said so they must have been telling the truth.
Man City should be kicked out of the league. No doubt they'll just get a slap on the wrist though, and Everton will get a 10 point deduction

Let's be honest. City will get sent a strongly worded letter asking them if they wouldn't mind awfully playing by the rules in future or the FA will be very disappointed.

Whilst trying to see a comparison at Premier League Level, would I be correct that Chelsea were also a club with quite a number of charges levelled against them. What sanctions were imposed on Chelsea.?

Rangers weren't punished by the league. They were wound up as an entitiy, and a new club was formed which had to reapply from the bottom.

A great deal different.
I can't remember the ins and outs of it but I believe that was Rangers starting from the bottom after going into administration and the liquidation. They were no relegated.
If anything it will be a Miguel Induráin scenerio, no winner of the premier league.

Rangers went bust. The club ceased to exist.
Sevco/Zombie Rangers were allowed to start at the bottom of the Scottish football league rather than being made to start again in the Lowland League, where they should have been sent to.
England have only ever been tough on little clubs. Bury were kicked out the league but when Leeds did the same thing nothing happened to them beat they were a Big Club. Zombie Leeds are now in the Premier League and making millions. Same with Coventry, they should have been kicked out years ago when they were owned by SISU but instead they’re back in the Premier League and also making untold riches.

Because they couldn't, or wouldn't, guarantee that they could complete the season. They were not convicted of any matters of illegal payments.

Spurs never finished as runners up to Man City. Any retrospective winners would be Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. Mourinho would be pleased

Can someone knowledgeable explain exactly was the cheating that keeps being referred to and why the relevant football authority were not aware of it and why no action was taken immediately at the time by them.

Other premier league clubs are now looking to see if they have grounds for compensation.
I know it's unlikely to happen but surely if you've won competitions and you've been found to be cheating you should be stripped of the those titles?

Some of these charges relate to the year 2009, some seventeen years ago. How far back can such matters be investigated or is there a statute of limitations that covers such matters. Is the current club management that is responsible for such matters exactly the same in the year 2009?
Under what part of the legal code will the police and judiciary be taking matters forward?
If you’re restricting yourself arbitrarily to just the boundaries of the Manchester metropolitan borough, then FC United are also a Manchester club. (Plus a few more further down the ladder).

At face value all of the charges look to be internal football industry problems.
The ones that raise a question in my mind are those relating to not accurately reporting payments to players and managers - if it’s just the reporting then it’s just a football thing, if they didn’t pay tax and NI on the additional payments (see also Boston United, for example) HMRC would be getting involved but there’s been no suggestion of this that I’ve seen

Exactly so. Matters such as taxation and National Insurance misfeasance if these have been revealed during the Premier League investigations, would be a matter for normal criminal investigations by the relevant authorities
