Class 175s to GWR

The rear unit doors are not locked they just don't electrically release, the green egress handle will still mechanically release the door for manual opening in an emergency. The emergency handles allow communication with the driver at all times assuming the units remain coupled.
I did mention in my reply that passengers could still egress, that was never denied.

But the point has been fully backed up here. There is an isolation stopping an electrical communication going between the units, yes this is only stopping door release communication but its still an isolation. As you say everything else works. This in essence locks the rear set up with passengers unable to board or alight from that set whilst the TUDI switch is in use. That is a fact.

I dont think there is any other way but to describe it as the rear set being locked when using the TUDI switch - factually it is locked as the doors wont open when door release is commanded from the other unit.

If you were on a 10 car IET stopping at a short platform (like Ivybridge), the rear 5 coaches will remain locked with passengers in essence trapped in there unable to alight. This is the same concept as the TUDI switch as the doors have been electrically isolated by the TMS so that when a door release is commanded, the doors will not open. Again, the doors are not physically bolted shut but you cannot open them to alight as there will be no door release in that set.

I did read somewhere internally today that 175003 has actually achieved over 10,000 miles between major faults and that they hope to achieve this with the whole fleet.

Brilliant, they’re slowly getting there at last. They’ll be excellent units when the fleet is finally rolled out with achievable reliability.

Brilliant. Now hopefully it can be replicated to every unit.

It may take time, but it will pay off if it works!

Correct the Red Pass Comms handles in each vestibule and each toilet will allow communication to the driver at all times, when a red handle is pulled in a vestibule it will initiate an emergency brake application but the driver can override this brake application by pressing the Pass Comms Override button in cab and this will then release the brakes for a maximum of 5 mins. If a Red Pass Comms handle is pulled in a toilet no emergency brake application is made.

It would be difficult for a passenger sitting in the toilet to make a brake application while in motion.:'(

Cannot find 003 today. 112 is passenger and 114 mileage which must be close to a 1000miles

007 and 101 have been out before on passenger trips Newquay and the mainline. This seemed an odd test. Did they breakdown before?

Likely a post-heavy maintenance shakedown run prior to starting their 1000 miles milage accumulation tests before returning to passenger service; that's my guess anyway.

Can anyone who has a bit more insider knowledge of the current plan answer this for me:
As more units become available as they pass their fault-free milage runs, will they fill in the other diagrams such as 2C05's (currently a 150) or 2E04's (currently an IET)?
Curious as to whether GWR will phase the units back in as they go or not.

Nothing showing at the moment for a movement tomorrow from Wolverton, which I believe was previously mentioned to be happening. Hopefully there will be one soon though.

The public information is quite clear that there will be a reduced number of services in Cornwall (and Devon) until 12th December as a result of 175 reliability (link at the bottom of message if it works)

Obviously it would be good to get the 150 back to local work and the IET back working other services, however i believe it is sensible to take things as it comes and not rush what the teams in Laira are trying to do to the units! Sorry one has to be so vague..........

Given there's only five units out from 15/16 with GWR there doesn't appear to be much point sending more units down to Laira to just join the queue with the others for the 1000 mile fault free running, unless they need a further source of spares for the units which are runners.

The other site I visit was wrong about Wolverton today. Three months since 004 came to Exeter and seems stuck there.
004 is warm stored though, it's currently plugged into the shore supply (has been as far as I can remember) and is also started up periodically, I believe it is being used for familiarisation for depot staff and train crew.

Was trying to imply just the two diagrams currently worked by the 150 and IET rather than the ones completely pulled from the timetable but that's been answered here. Thanks!
Understandable decision making though, fingers crossed it'll all eventually lead to a positive result. 112 seems to be working fine now in service too on the one diagram. Here's hoping...

There is nothing stopping the adhoc use of 175s if they are fit for service to release the 150/IET back to other work on a day to day basis - see last Friday when we had 2 175s out in passenger service, one covering for the 150 on 2C05 and subsequent services!

So, is it 10,000 or 1,000 miles that are required to be run fault-free? Both have been quoted here recently.
1000 fault free running before entering service after a failure/maintenance, but they want to achieve 10,000 miles per fault in service which was what TfW were apparently achieving.

Looks like there is some workings now showing for this Sunday between Exeter and Paignton/Plymouth starting and finishing in Exeter TMD.

I wonder whether that could be 004 being used for the first time?

The key 2E28 was 150 on time to Plymouth then taken over by 175112 to Exeter leaving Plymouth 14 late. Will they hold 2M77 for it?

114 has disappeared running 32 late at Plymouth; looks like on realtime it's going to Laira.

114 going on to Exeter 40 late. supposed to couple up 112 and back to laira.

Why would they swap a unit on time on a "key" service for another unit and cause a delay, unless there was an issue with the 150 ?

114 had a problem and withdrawn ?
