XC Voyager Refurbishment

Had the luxury of riding 220014 yesterday. Crowding issues down the core aside, a really comfortable journey with good legroom and a rarity on UK trains with a sturdy well sized table. I'd say these have the best interior of any actively operating train in the UK?

It's the London Overground and Glasgow Subway moquette that is revealed by the vinyl pealing away on the arm rests that makes me smile!

I'm quite relieved that there's not much change to the interior. It's a shame to lose the space age style seats for ones that will date more quickly. The newer seats aren't as comfortable. The main need for refurbishment was to get rid of the fake wood effects and Virgin moquette.

I do find the outgoing Antonin seats are very comfortable indeed, but one thing I’m hugely grateful for post refurbishment on is that my laptop now fits the airline seat pull downs.

Just a note that 220027 is long term stopped with some problems to one driving car which is rumoured to require a replacement cab. Central Rivers have swapped 60727 into 220001 so that 220027 has 60701 as another defective car to repair.

Is it a different issue that is unrelated to the fire it suffered?

Refurbed 220007 on Manchester Piccadilly to Bristol Temple Meads seems to be in trouble today - paired with 220001 it has seemingly stopped at Wolverhampton and not gone any further.

Cross Country Journey Check page states delay has been caused by the Police dealing with an incident near the Railway, not a train fault.

Yep am now on it albeit very slowly making its way to Bristol Temple Meads. Police were required to meet the train at Wolverhampton. 220007 is nice a rattle free

I don't believe they need a replacement, they were always meant to be a temporary measure to cover for unavailable 180s, from what I remember

It's been known for awhile that XC was trying to get them through the door so wouldn't be surprised if it's true. However considering it's Chime Whistle is the source, I'll await for a more reputational source to confirm.

Sounds believable and could have been inferred by many on the Forum now EMR seem to be getting their issues resolved. We've been waiting a long time for such a sensible plan to be officially confirmed, possibly because there remained a possibility of going to EMR for a short period.

Hopefully they've not suffered by being inactive - a period when they could have been refurbished and made ready to go. That's probably planned for the end of the programme already under way for existing stock?

I thought EMR were taking them on temporarily?

It would appear that’s not happening from what I can see with what’s going on, they’ve upped the timetable to 92% and seem to be getting by, they’ve got a handful more 810s coming in soon (017 and 020 are on final testing in Old Dalby after modifications) and 019 has returned from modifications at Dalby too, so can’t say for certain but at the moment it appears that may not happen.
