2 of them ETH, 401 & 409
1 of which worked the Fort William
Tour in May with 403,
& 3 if you include cross us 402.
Plus the two 37/5s, 521 & 667.

401 & 402 are due to work
A LSL / Intercity railtour
On September 16th.

The peak to Inverness being
The 19th September

Quite a few options then, thx. Will see about ticket prices for that one if it turns out to be double 37 hauled

Can someone tell me what on earth is the deal with 37403 and 37424 swapping names?!

In 1986 37403 was named Isle of Mull and in 1988 37424 was named Glendarroch. Then in that same year 37424's Glendarroch name was removed, 37403's Isle of Mull name was removed and she was renamed Glendarroch. Then in 1990 37424 was named Isle of Mull.

THEN in 1994 37424's Isle of Mull name was removed and 37403's Glendarroch name was removed. It wasn't until 2016 that 403 received the name Isle of Mull again. In that same year 37424 was renamed to Glen- oh wait, sorry. It's uhhh... Avro Vulcan XH558. A typical Tractor name.

There was a suggestion at the time that the nameplate swap was linked to the owning sector of the locos. 37403 was initially a Provincial/Regional Railways sector loco whereas 37424 was an InterCity sector loco.

Interesting about the sectors thing, thanks. I'm a little ashamed to admit I thought 403's first return to working order was the more recent 2021 refurbishment but I now know it was 2016, thanks!
