Does anyone know what is hauling 45212 today and why 37669 and 47813 double headed on the return leg of yesterday’s Scarborough Spa Express please? Thank you in advance

Thank you45212 now going to KWVR tomorrow not today
Thank youI would imagine it saved having to run round with 813, and made things easier at Carnforth on the return, for propelling the stock back into Steamtown.
57314 and 47812 taking it, I am lead to believe45212 now going to KWVR tomorrow not today
This tour is now showing postponed on the RTC websiteHas the Weardale Explorer next Saturday (12th) been postponed?
No timings up yet, and when you click to book it directs you to a train on the 10th of April next year, but still says the 12th everywhere else on the website.
Steam engines have been up the Yorkshire Coast line before (2014 and 2016), so if it was weight restrictions around here has something changed? I was quite surprised to see it still on the RTC website Saturday and assumed it was running. However a post on a local Facebook group, and the fact that it wasn't in RTT led me to realise it was cancelled. Quite a few people locally were going to watch it. Leaving Bempton going north there are some good open views of the railway from public roads, so a shame.Believe either low bookings or it wasn't allowed on the line as they have weight restrictions
I think the weight restriction has been removed, was part of the reason 20s were used on York RHTT circuits.Steam engines have been up the Yorkshire Coast line before (2014 and 2016), so if it was weight restrictions around here has something changed? That would be incorrect. Class 37s are still in use on RHTT trains on the line due to weight restrictions.I think the weight restriction has been removed, was part of the reason 20s were used on York RHTT circuits.
Still bookable, just looks like the steam and diesel pages are being combinedIt looks as if the 19th of December diesel tour has been axed as it’s off the website

The steam operators' problems are well encapsulated here.Steam engines have been up the Yorkshire Coast line before (2014 and 2016), so if it was weight restrictions around here has something changed? Although I have seen Class 66's on engineering trains.Class 37s are still in use on RHTT trains on the line due to weight restrictions.
Fire risk problem has receeded with recent rain, locally everywhere has greened up nicely.Price of coal that potentially creates fire risks.
This must be a problem for all heritage operations. I am not sure how you address it. I have often wondered if a smaller scale operations may be an answer/possible, e.g. run a York - Scarborough shuttle, the problem with all day tours is the cost and the fact that if they dont pick up in your locallity they are not viable. The reason I highlight York - Scarborough is that its a double track line with 1 tph, and there is a turntable at Scarborough, however not sure how you would turn an engine at York.Inability to monetise all the enthusiasts of all types along the route the train takes.

There is also a problem with the Yorkshire Coast line, the long single track section between Bridlington and Hunmanby. The last time a steam special ran the normal service was roughly every 90/120 minutes, so room to path the extra through.
The current service is hourly both ways, the northbound Scarborough service leaves Bridlington at roughly XX:03, arrives at Hunmanby at about XX:21. It passes the southbound Sheffield service there, which heads south arriving in Bridlington at around XX:38, so that only leaves 25 minutes to path the rail tour through. so I wonder if it was just not feasible to follow the route proposed.
York does have a turntable, at the NRM I thinkand there is a turntable at Scarborough, however not sure how you would turn an engine at York.
There’s a Network Rail one at Holgate Works.York does have a turntable, at the NRM I think
Its on there againCorrection September
ApologiesThat would be incorrect. Class 37s are still in use on RHTT trains on the line due to weight restrictions.

To be honest I’m not suprised34067 failed with a hot box at Hellifield - being returned to Carnforth by 47804. 37706 remains on The Dalesman.
