Class 175s to GWR

1000 fault-free miles is the equivalent of 6.25 return trips between Plymouth and Penzance, or around 9.6 return trips between Plymouth and Exeter. Doesn't sound like a lot, but obviously considering that several units have to meet this, and the clock is reset whenever there is a fault, this could be lengthy process if not many ECS runs per day are taking place.

I know not directly 175 related however due to the altered 175 diagrams and subsequently change of 150 diagram, this has resulted in the Axminster service tonight running wirh 165104 - the first time a Turbo has been up the Southern!

It definitely ran through, someone has cancelled the TRUST schedule. Turbos have been cleared up the Southern for a little while, just been a bit of time coming before the right time when we could get one up there!

I see. Forgive my ignorance, but it suggests there's now a return passenger working from Axminster, as opposed to ECS via Yeovil and Castle Cary.
Do you know when that was changed? May, I guess.

It will be nice to see 175s on the stretch.

No bother, the return path (2Z92) is only because SWR are in a temporary timetable. When SWR goes back to hourly down here, it will go back to being an ECS move.

Turbos have been cleared since March time, but have it has only managed to escape up there today!

175s should be cleared up there and take on the Axminster Job when everything has settled in

Pity this can't run more at the moment, but better than nothing.

175115+006 are on the last leg to Plymouth where they return to Exeter following 2E28 operated all day by 175003 The three units then return together to Laira as 5P28 driver only. Best view is on Dawlishcam Blenheim approx 2305 unless an add pops up.

I wonder what crews have been operating it, Exeter? Plymouth driver to take it back to Laira.

Oh great, I've seen quite a bit over the last year or so that it has stopped short at Exeter when it has been a turbo on the service.

As @Jrocks will confirm, there were a few hoops to jump through for today's working! Including one driver who signed the route and one the traction!

175003 has completed it's passenger duties at Exeter. Been on the road since 0540. No incidents so far as I could see. 175115+006+003 in platform 5 ready to go back to Laira. Left on time. Must be the first 7 car 175. Watched on Dawlishcams. 2+3+2.

Getting close to the maximum of 9 cars at times I can recall turning up at Chester and when they did having to pass the stop board on reception by a fair margin to clear the main line.

I cannot see any 175 out today which is a shame after the success yesterday. 175006+115 had a really good run only getting delayed by 1C92 and 1C91 running late which the driver made up for on the return to Exeter.

Dodgy elswhere; hourly service at Falmouth, two hourly at Okehampton, and an hour gap at Paignton. Seem to have found a 150 for Newquay.

I presume that the 1,000 miles fault-free running is being combined with the driver training runs, to kill 2 birds with 1 stone? I suppose drivers could do with the experience of fixing the faults that they can as drivers on the train before having to do it in service, too.

Just arrived in the west for a week, was going to ride one or two 175s if there's some about, but having just come past Laira and seen the place rammed with them, in stark contrast to the somewhat large presence of 150s at Plymouth, I'm going to throw a wild guess out there and say it's going to be an outside chance.!

Next week I would look out for a 175 (probably 003) on 2C05-2E11-2C32-2E28. It did it Mon-Thur this week.

175003 completed it's Newquay diagram yesterday without problems. That train must have completed 1000 miles in passenger service not just mileage accumulation.
