2218 having a spin on Harrogate locals 6 & 2 this evening. It's not a tracking error - I passed it on King's Road. Don't recall seeing one on these before, but with traffic issues from the Yorkshire Show I guess anything could happen.

The last three E400EVs (2217-9) were delivered in a basically red livery, rather than 36 colours, precisely to allow their use on other services as required. They have all made occasional appearances on the local school routes, not just the S8 which is scheduled as part of workings on the 36. So your sighting, while not common, is not so unexpected. More intriguing is that visiting B7TL 2404 tracked on both am and pm runs on the S3 last Wednesday: did anyone witness this?

I didn't see it, but in 2025 the visiting vehicles were used on quite a few of the 'S' services to release the high capacity Starbus fleet for use on Show Shuttles. I only went out to see the Show workings on one day this year and it was a mix of buses - 4 visitors and a couple of the 21xx vehicles.

All loaned buses for the Great Yorkshire Show have returned to their original depot. There are rumours that the two Harrogate B7RLEs will be withdrawn soon for conversion to training vehicles following the timetable changes last Sunday and the end of the school term.

Quite a lot of service changes across the network from 30th August.
York:

We're making some changes to the 30, 30X, 32 and 40 from 30 August.

We're introducing new times on these buses on Mondays to Fridays, due to changes in school times for Outwood Academy. The afternoon bus from York College will now run via York City Centre as a standard 30, rather than as a 30SE.

There will be a new, later, departure from York to Thirsk departing Exhibition Square at 5.10pm on Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, the 6.10pm bus from Thirsk will run at 6.05pm instead.

Due to long term roadworks, there will be a route change in and out of Preston. From Higher Walton, buses will now run along London Way and Chorley Road between Preston and Walton-le-Dale. As a result of this, there will be changes to most of our times on Hotline. Download your timetable.

We're making some changes to some of our college buses from 30 August.

Buses for Craven College
The Mainline M6 leaving Colne at 7.50am to Skipton for Craven College will be replaced with a new college C1 bus. This bus will be open to students attending the schools and colleges in Skipton only.

Buses for Burnley College
The 120 and 121 buses in the afternoon will now depart the college at 4.30pm.

Buses for Nelson & Colne College
All of our services for Nelson & Colne College will have new, easier to remember numbers.

NC1 - formerly 112 - Nelson & Colne College to Brierfield and Burnley

NC2 - formerly 110 - Nelson & Colne College to Earby and Barnoldswick

They do not seem to be in any hurry to correct the incorrect bus stop flags/shelter labels they put up last year in Harrogate

Both shelters at the War Memorial aka Pier Head aka Bettys have 36 on them although only those to Ripon call there, while the 4 gets no mention. The following stop at the Royal Hall has the 4 on it but not the 36.

There is a blunder re Connexions services at the southbound Library Gardens stop with the X12 incorrectly listed instead of the X52.

The Asda strop lists a number of services which terminate immediately thereafter at the bus station and the 2 which is outbound from the bus station but not the 36 on which a number of journeys continue to Ripon. Simply listing the 2 and 36 along with some graphic for the bus station would I suggest be better

Yes, it's now fleet number T992. According to UK Buses it is based at Starbeck, but a look through Flickr shows it working out of York and Blackburn, and from your sightings Burnley.

Yes it's a training bus, number T992, acquired by Transdev in 2025. Set to be repainted into Academy livery in due course.

Double decker usage on Flyer is very rare as I said. Usually on the A1. When this has happened, some sort of exception must've been made by the authority.

The A1 is quite often standing room only, the new Citaros are an upgrade over the previous Versas but ideally the service would be more frequent to provide more capacity.

I recall it was briefly mentioned in a couple of press reports when Transdev took over the service but due to Covid and the various restrictions at the time it seemed to have been forgotten about.

The Ironman challenge today had a major effect on Harrogate's 7 & 36. Not sure about the 7, but I caught a 36 from Harrogate to Leeds around lunchtime. Down the A658 to Pool, up Pool Bank to the Dyneley Arms, along the A660 to Leeds ring road then round to Moortown for the normal route. Understandably heavy traffic exacerbated the problem so it was a long crawl on most of the A658 & A660 and took around 85 minutes. What it did to timetables and rotas goodness only knows. Interested to note that as we approached the turn off to the A658 there was an automated announcement along the lines of "we are on a diversion. Please speak to the driver for more information". Back to normal by around 5pm.

Please speak to the driver, err not whilst he's concentrating on driving down the fast A658, these automated announcements are dangerous lol.

From a timekeeping point of view, the 7 doesn't seem to have really been affected – the diversion via A64 was about the same running time as the usual route through Thorner.
The 36 was hit badly, with the diversion taking an extra 20 minutes each way. It looks like some journeys to Ripon may have been dropped but not entirely clear as some buses seem to have been stepped back to run the following journey from Harrogate onwards, and from what I can see they've had about 8 buses running instead of the usual 6. (Go Ahead's X98/X99 was similarly affected, and had 3 buses running instead of the usual 2)
A shame that there couldn't be any accommodation to serve Harewood, which I assume is a significant destination for Sunday traffic, but hard to see how they could have done that without an unacceptably long diversion (especially as there's nowhere obvious to turn round in Harewood village, but just running to Harewood Bridge and along A659 wouldn't be much help).

I heard the announcement on a bus that wasn't actually on diversion! A few months ago on a Transdev M4 going through Rievaulx Abbey the announcement came on.

On the subject of announcements, while the 36 was on the A658 there were quite a few low bridge warnings triggered, I suspect, by low-hanging trees. I expect
