4Z60 1759 Peterborough Eastfield Jn - Doncaster Down Decoy
4Z61 2025 Doncaster Down Decoy - Peterborough North Yard
I have just observed 99005 top and 99010 tailing with 6 sand wagons on the 4Z60 tonight. So it is a good bet that these two will form 4Z61 on the Towns line.

Was it 005 or 006? 99005 should be at Leicester after coming back from Toton on 0M12 with 57306 & 57310.

I've noticed there are also paths in for a 4Z63 2320 from Peterborough, and 4Z64 0130 return from Doncaster Down Decoy.

When I went to the bridge at Down Decoy this morning, 99006 and 99010 were at the far end of the yard waiting to leave on either end of 4H31.

Meanwhile, some staff boarded 99008 (next to the stop blocks on the north siding) and started the loco, and the red tail lights were switched on. I wondered if some maintenance staff had come from Peterborough on 4D30 and were doing a check or just running up the engines on 99008 / 99009, which have been at Down Decoy for over a week.

The plot thickens - 4Z60 didn't have a consist in TOPS, but 4Z61 is now consisted with 99009 leading and 99010 behind it (rather than top and tail). So if that's right they must have done a loco swap at Down Decoy (99006 off / 99009 on).

When I passed Peterborough New England yard at about 13 15 this afternoon I'm pretty sure that it was 99 006. I took a video from 1A18 (propelled by 91 110), but it's too large a file to upload from my phone. I shall have to go through it with a fine tooth comb! ;)

Take a screen shot where you think you can see the number

4D30/4H31/4D32/4H33 were definitely 99006 at the north end of the 6 IIA hoppers and 99010 at the south end.

That means 4Z60 was probably also the same, 99006 at the north end and 99010 at the south end.

The questions I now have are a) did a swap take place between 4Z60 arriving at Doncaster Decoy and 4Z61 departing yesterday and b) was that swap 99006 being left at Doncaster Decoy and 99009 replacing it going with 99010? My own guess is that it didn't, however TOPS and RTT suggests that happened, but if anyone knows for certain (or sees 99006 or 99009 today) that info would be appreciated please.

In addition to the above, 99003 taking over the 4M01/4L01 diagram at Wembley on Monday morning means that 66712 was freed up spare. This 66 is now working 0L47 Wembley - London Gateway. What this means for todays 4M47 London Gateway - Hams Hall I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it means 99002+66712 will work it today, with the 66 going somewhere else at Hams Hall.

I had another look at my video and it is 99006, that handle above the buffer made it impossible to read the number on the front clearly, I had to take a look at the side number which is too blurred for a still but it does look like 99006.

It seems that 99012 & 99013 are currently on the ship 'Autosky', the ship is reported on the 'Vessel Finder' site to be docking at Portbury at 0530 tomorrow, due to paperwork currently needing to be signed by Stadler the 99s will not immediately be released for onward movement

Thank you for this @47286Dan - very much appreciated.

I'm now extremely confused about where 99001 is if anyone can help please? There was this working yesterday:

0Z99 Leicester - Leicester via Hams Hall:

Which suggests 57310+99001 went back to Leicester, while 99005 remained at Hams Hall. Is that the case?

The above TOPS post suggests 99003 was taken off of 4L01 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway at Hams Hall and replaced by 99005.

I also believe 99009 is still actually at Doncaster Decoy and not Peterborough unless anyone knows otherwise.

PS - And thank you to whichever mod moved this topic to allocations/diagrams.

I also believe 99009 is still actually at Doncaster Decoy and not Peterborough unless anyone knows otherwise.

Had a look this morning at Down Decoy and got out my zoom lens. 99008 still on the stop blocks of the north siding, and 99009 on the other end of the wagons. I suspect 99009 has not actually moved since I went there on Tuesday morning (both locos in the same place either end of 6 sand wagons).

Current TOPS locations
99001 4L68 (with 99004 behind it)
99002 4M47
99003 Hams Hall
99004 4L68
99005 4M01
99006 4Z60 Peterborough - Doncaster Down Decoy with 99010 [edit - 4Z60 was consisted in TOPS but did not run]
99007 Leicester
99008 Down Decoy
99009 Down Decoy (shown at Peterborough on TOPS arriving on 4Z64/12, but confirmed to be at Down Decoy)
99010 4Z60 [edit - 4Z60 was consisted in TOPS but did not run]
99011 Peterborough

Which suggests 57310+99001 went back to Leicester, while 99005 remained at Hams Hall. Is that the case?

I think TOPS originally showed both 99001 and 99005 working throughout from Leicester to Leicester, but both of them were subsequently updated to show being detached at Hams Hall.

Which makes it a bit strange that 99001 is now shown on a train from Birch Coppice. However, there was an (unconsisted in TOPS) 0G01 move from Hams Hall to Birch Coppice this morning, which would explain it.

Thank you, so that means:

99001 worked 0Z99 Leicester - Hams Hall yesterday, then 0G01 Hams Hall - Birch Coppice this morning and is now on 4L68 Birch Coppice - London Gateway.

99002 remains on the 4M47/4L47 diagram.

99003 worked 4M01 London Gateway - East Midlands Gateway yesterday and then 4L01 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway as far as Hams Hall only.

99004 worked 4M68 London Gateway - Birch Coppice today and then 4L68 Birch Coppice - London Gateway at least as far as Hams Hall, but may still be at Birch Coppice.

99005 worked 0Z99 Leicester - Hams Hall yesterday, then 4L01 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway from Hams Hall and then 4M01 London Gateway - East Midlands Gateway today.

So the final 2 pieces of the puzzle to complete are a) Is 99004 still at Birch Coppice, or was it removed off 4L68 at Hams Hall this afternoon and b) What was on this 0Z99 Hams Hall - Leicester this afternoon; 99003, 99004 or both?

0Z99 Hams Hall - Leicester:

And for anyone interested, 99012+99013 are now off the boat at Portbury.

Very odd, I've looked at 3 different tracking sites that all say 'Autosky' is at sea and will dock tomorrow

* 14th August * And is reported to have arrived into Portbury this morning

I've been sent an image by a friend that shows 2 99's in the distance at Portbury docks and he didn't take the photos himself, but says they were taken yesterday afternoon and noted as 99012+99013.

So, unless my friend has seen a fake image, once again the ship is a mystery!

And it's not the only mystery if anyone fancies a couple of challenges! 0Z99 Hams Hall - Leicester yesterday is unknown. My guess is 99003+99004?

The other mystery is involving 99001, which seems to have had a problem on 4M68 this morning near Aston and is now currently at a stand in the Bescot area for some reason?

99001 appears to be on the move again - currently 173L.

TOPS has now been adjusted to show both 99003 and 99004 at Leicester.

I notice there was a schedule in yesterday for an 0G68 11:00 Birch to Birch via Hams Hall that shows cancelled.

4L68 lost time between Whitacre Jn and Coleshill Parkway yesterday which is attributed in TRUST to an additional call at Hams Hall.

Appears to be a loco issue that delayed 4M68 this morning

Thank you once again @Adrian Barr - extremely helpful.

I'm almost certain 99001 made some small history last night on 4L68 from Birch Coppice. No report passing Rainham on RTT because I believe it was diverted off the booked route and went from Barking to West Thurrock Jn via Upminster and Ockendon. That's new track for the class.

99002 and 99005 are currently at London Gateway. 4M47 and 4M01 will be hauled by these 99's today. Whichever 99 works 4M01 to East Midlands Gateway should then work light engine to Leicester depot after.

Sunday sees a small increase in 99 movements. As well as the usual 4A47 Hams Hall - Wembley, there will also be a 4A01 East Midlands Gateway - Wembley with a 99 coming from Leicester depot to work this.

99011 moved to Leicester depot yesterday on 0Z13 from Peterborough with 57310+57306.

Can confirm - 4L68 diverted via Primrose Hill and Stratford, and also via Upminster / Ockenden, due to reports of track defects at Gospel Oak and Rainham.

Further info points to your friend being 100% correct, the 99s were not transported by 'Autosky' but by 'Oceanus Highway' which departed Portbury on Wednesday evening

The current locations and status of 99's as of 22:00 Sunday 16th August 2026 is as follows:

99001 - 208 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Birch Coppice since 15/08/26 arriving on 4M68.
99002 - 202 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Wembley yard since 16/08/26 arriving on 4A47.
99003 - 72 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at East Midlands Gateway since 16/08/26 arriving on 0F01.
99004 - 89 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Leicester depot since 13/08/26 arriving on 0Z99.
99005 - 127 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Wembley yard since 16/08/26 arriving on 4A01.
99006 - 88 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Peterborough yard since 12/08/26 arriving on 4Z61.
99007 - 40 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Leicester depot since 08/08/26 arriving on 0G23.
99008 - 35 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Doncaster Decoy yard since 01/08/26 arriving on 4D79.
99009 - 23 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Doncaster Decoy yard since 01/08/26 arriving on 4D79.
99010 - 57 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Peterborough yard since 12/08/26 arriving on 4Z61.
99011 - 23 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Leicester depot since 14/08/26 arriving on 0Z13.
99012+99013 - Currently at Portbury docks since 12/08/26 arriving on Oceanus Highway (with thanks to ExRes)

The last weekday where no 99's moved on the mainline was Thursday 16th July 2026.
The last day where no 99's moved on the mainline was Sunday 19th July 2026.

Track/route news: 99001 on 4L68 was the first 99 to travel via Upminster and Ockendon between Barking and West Thurrock Jn.

Subject to the usual caveats:

99001 - Possibly 0D72 to East Midlands Gateway and then 4L72 to London Gateway. However, 99003 is already at East Midlands Gateway for 4L72, so either it won't do this and will work something else (likely as a VSTP schedule), or it will work 4L72 along with 99003 and then there's an extra 99 at London Gateway meaning an additional move may take place or there will be a spare 99 at Wembley.

99002 - 4M47/4L47 London Gateway - Hams Hall - London Gateway diagram.

99003 - 4L72 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway and then 4M68/4L68 London Gateway - Birch Coppice - London Gateway diagram, however, please note the above about 99001 and how this may impact 99003 if 4L72 is double headed.

99005 - 4M01/4L01 London Gateway - East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway diagram.

Where do the GBRf Car trains run to/from? Thanks :)
6X41 is Dagenham - Garston and 6L48 Garston - Dagenham is the return working of this. This circuit utilises 1 loco, currently 66314, and runs everyday except Sunday.

6X43 is also Dagenham - Garston and 6L47 Garston - Dagenham is the return working of this. However, this circuit is seasonal and depends on extra cars being produced. When it runs, it usually runs twice a week.

6X77 Dagenham - Mossend and 6L38 Mossend - Dagenham typically runs 3 times a week (departing Dagenham Monday, Wednesday and Friday) spending the weekend at Kingmoor Up Through Siding. No 99 has been over Shap and Beattock yet, so because testing across this section of the WCML hasn't taken place, that could explain why only the Garston workings are initially mentioned in the post by @HST125Scorton
