99011 is definitely at Felixstowe South and arrived on last nights (this morning) 4L04.

As per above, 99011 consisted in TOPS (by itself) to 0E99 09:30 Felixstowe - Peterborough shed

99002 shown at Hams Hall on TOPS, and 99004 at Birch Coppice, after their intermodal workings yesterday

99007 now showing at Leicester, arrived on 0G23 from Hams Hall yesterday evening

Sorry I don’t understand RTT, how do you know that’s a 99? Why would it be pathed at 33mph?
I knew because 99011 was no longer going to run an intermodal due to the issue it had, so logically it had to go to peterborough or leicester, aswell as headcode including 99, VSTP headcodes often include the class of loco it is

It says so in the info panel:

Potential for a 99 to appear on 4L01 this week. RTT says starting on diesel then become electric at nuneaton.
Correct, as per my post in post #1976, 4M01/4L01 will be a 99 this week. That's why 99003 went to Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

When time permits, I intend to post a summary like the one below every Sunday night.

The current locations and status of 99's as of 22:00 Sunday 9th August 2026 is as follows:

99001 - 202 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Leicester depot since 01/08/26 arriving on 0F75.
99002 - 189 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Wembley yard since 09/08/26 arriving on 4A47.
99003 - 63 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Wembley yard since 08/08/26 arriving on 0A01.
99004 - 80 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Birch Coppice since 08/08/26 arriving on 4M68.
99005 - 116 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Toton TMD since 06/08/26 arriving on 0F91.
99006 - 72 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Peterborough yard since 05/08/26 arriving on 4H31.
99007 - 40 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Leicester depot since 08/08/26 arriving on 0G23.
99008 - 35 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Doncaster Decoy yard since 01/08/26 arriving on 4D79.
99009 - 23 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Doncaster Decoy yard since 01/08/26 arriving on 4D79.
99010 - 43 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Peterborough yard since 05/08/26 arriving on 4H31.
99011 - 22 confirmed mainline workings - Currently at Peterborough yard since 09/08/26 arriving on 0E99.

The last weekday where no 99's moved on the mainline was Thursday 16th July 2026.
The last day where no 99's moved on the mainline was Sunday 19th July 2026.

Track/route news: 99011 on 4L04 was the first 99 to travel via Ipswich Europa Jn - Ipswich Boss Hall Jn and Trimley - Felixstowe South.

Subject to the usual caveats:

99002 should work 4L47 Wembley - London Gateway and then 4M47 London Gateway - Hams Hall and 4L47 Hams Hall - London Gateway.

99003 should work 4L01 Wembley - London Gateway and then 4M01 London Gateway - East Midlands Gateway and 4L01 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway.

99004 should work 0D72 Birch Coppice - East Midlands Gateway and then 4L72 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway today and then 4M68 London Gateway - Birch Coppice and 4L68 Birch Coppice - London Gateway Tuesday - Friday.

99005 should work 0Z07 Toton TMD - Leicester today.

How far in advance are 99s put into the system? Looking on RTT, it seems to only show 99s on the day. Was hoping to go see one in action in the Wembley area, but since its a good couple of hours travel for me, would need to know at least the day before

I presume RTT shows the allocations when it receives them, but very few Operators will allocate locos in the system more than the night before.

RTT will only show the loco allocation when the freight company consists the train on the internal railway system (TOPS). *I don't believe TOPS can be consisted more than 12 hours before the departure time but of course can be consisted any time from then right up to departure time (sometimes after if someone has forgot).

*Edit. It might be that a schedule cant be called (activated) that early and you can't consist without a valid schedule being called.

You won’t see them on RTT the day before, unless it’s an early morning departure.

Most allocations seem to be done during the early hours of the day in question. It will be as a depot makes any alterations to and finalises plans based of what is available.

If you just want to see some 99s but not particular ones then look at what was running last week through North London. Also the same loco usually sticks all week on the services through/across North London - that is unless it fails or there is severe disruption !.

There a three service pairs across North London now (I think)
4L01 & 4M01 return
4L47 & 4M47 return
4L68 & 4M68 return
These tend to be a bit different on Mondays as the loco / wagons get positioned for the week so best to focus on Tuesday to Friday.
The loco should stat the same Tuesday to Friday afaikt.

Thanks guys - makes sense!

Wasn't after a particular loco (only seen 1 so far!), just the times of a service that would pass through London which would be 99 hauled - so thanks very much for the advice, most appreciated!

If you're looking for movements of 99s, the (paid subscription, but not expensive) RTT+ has a 'Fleet Search' capability, which lists (for operators that supply loco allocation data) all movements of a class for a particular day (including past history) - example below for the 99s last Friday.

(RTT+ also has no adverts and can highlight or only display 'activated' and/or 'reported' trains on the search listings for a location - really useful for freight where there's often many 'Q' and other un-activated paths cluttering the train listings).

By "Wembley area", do you mean one of the stations on the the WCML Wembley Central, North Wembley, South Kenton, etc?

If so, I would be happy to provide you with a freight timetable free of charge so that you can make the most
of your long journey from the south coast!

In addition to the expected movements (post #1993) so far today of 99002 on 4M47, 99003 on 4M01, and 99004 on 0D72, loco 99006 is consisted to an 0D32 13:14 Peterborough - Doncaster Down Decoy. This could be related to an 0H33 15:46 return working back to Peterborough (not sure). There's also an 0M12 18:01 from Down Decoy to Leicester shed - possibly a 99 working?

***Early evening Update**** - 99006 en route back from Doncaster to Peterborough on 0H33.

0Z07 from Toton to Leicester (expected to be 99005) shows cancelled, and no sign of 0M12 running today.

However, there are now VSTP schedules in for tomorrow:
0M12 10:09 Doncaster Down Decoy to Toton TMD
0M12 12:20 Toton TMD to Leicester Depot

It's possible these might take 99008 / 99009 or both to Leicester, running via Toton to pick up 99005 - but that's just a guess.

There are also 4Z60 17:59 Peterborough - Doncaster Down Decoy / 4Z61 20:25 back to Peterborough / 4Z63 23:20 to Down Decoy schedules which look like more class 99 test runs.

How far in advance are 99s put into the system? Looking on RTT, it seems to only show 99s on the day. Was hoping to go see one in action in the Wembley area, but since its a good couple of hours travel for me, would need to know at least the day before

If RTT is working off the TOPS consist (see post #1996) then the loco can only be shown on its current train, which can only be "activated" in TRUST, and consisted in TOPS, a maximum of 8 hours before departure. For example 99002 on 4M47 should return on 4L47, but if RTT is looking at the TOPS consist it won't be shown on 4L47 until 4M47 arrives and the loco is "consisted" to the return working. Passenger units in RTT work slightly differently as these are usually diagrammed for a day's work, and the "consist" for a unit's next working is visible in TRUST / RTT before the inward working arrives.

The 99s now look to be the regular traction on 4L47/4M47 and 4L68/4M68. Both these pairs of services tend to be out-and-back workings using the same loco for several days until it gets "swapped out" for maintenance etc.

If 4L01/4M01 stays with 99 haulage then Tue-Fri times through the Wembley area are as follows (based on Thu 13/08):

Expected class 99-hauled services - arrival and departure times at Wembley Yard (Receptions) or Willesden Up & Down Goods 13/08/26
4L47 0052-0356 HH - LG
4L01 0331-0335 EMG - LG
4M68 0316-0322 LG - BC
4M01 1257-1333 LG - EMG
4M47 1401-1433 LG - HH
4L68 1825-1930 BC - LG

So basically two 99s passing the Wembley area around lunchtime / early afternoon and one early evening

Are 008 and 009 likely to be at Doncaster Decoy tomorrow morning?

Looks like they should still be at Doncaster tomorrow morning (I assume they are still at Down Decoy as per TOPS, but not been down to check since they arrived) but they could potentially depart around 10:00 on 0M12.

*Quick update to the above - the 99s are still at Down Decoy this evening, either end of the five or six biomass wagons they arrived with. They are on the "north siding" next to the mail terminal, clearly visible from the bridge at 8pm.

Many thanks fo this! I do have RTT+, which I have been using for the 99s at the moment, but when you search for 99s the next day they don't normally show (hence my initial query and expert answers - most appreciated!) Though they do show up more than the poor 93s!

My guess for the 0M12 today from Donny to Toton will be the 57's that worked the Tube Stock run yesterday with 306/310 rather than the 99's...or it may consist of all of them of course

I totally agree with you. 0M12 Doncaster Decoy - Toton is 57306+57310. 0M12 Toton - Leicester (same headcode!) should be 57306+57310+99005.

In case anyone is wondering what happened to 99004 on 4M68 London Gateway - Birch Coppice this morning after passing Rugby, it went off its booked route via Nuneaton and a loco run round at Hams Hall instead of via Stechford and Walsall.

There were heavy overnight delays to 99002 on 4L47 Hams Hall - London Gateway and 99003 on 4L01 East Midlands Gateway - London Gateway, but I can confirm both reached London Gateway this morning under their own power.

In addition to the 3 container diagrams being worked by 99002-99004 and also in addition to the trip back home for 99005, the ECML and Spalding/Lincoln Central test runs will probably run today. 99006, 99010 and 99011 are at Peterborough. 99008 and 99009 are at Doncaster Decoy.

Ah... that makes sense. I didn't notice the 57s were out and about. They weren't in Down Decoy last night, and yesterday's 6Z11 has a TRUST report "via St James Jn" (and no report at Decoy North Jn) so they must have run into Hexthorpe Yard instead. With 99008 and 99009 still being either end of the sand wagons in Down Decoy, it didn't really look like they were prepped for a light engine departure anyway.

4D30 test run now on the run to Doncaster with 99006 + 7 empty sand wagons + 99010. When that arrives there will be 4 99s in Down Decoy... might go and have a look.

I think these are the relevant schedules today for the testing, assuming they all run:

4D30 0827 Peterborough Westwood Sdgs - Doncaster Down Decoy
4H31 1100 Doncaster Down Decoy - Peterborough Eastfield Jn
4D32 1320 Peterborough Eastfield Jn - Doncaster Down Decoy
4H33 1549 Doncaster Down Decoy - Peterborough Eastfield Jn
4Z60 1759 Peterborough Eastfield Jn - Doncaster Down Decoy
4Z61 2025 Doncaster Down Decoy - Peterborough North Yard

Also TOPS has now been adjusted to show 99001 back at Leicester (where it's been since 1st August).

I can only speak for L01, but that got held along with other trains for an emergency possession at Bourne end. It then got further delayed at Wembley for crew change and was then in a small game of jigsaw with other trains to get away.
