YES 150 & 172 can work in together! while wait for the 1st 67 to land at Rowley Regis 150??? & 172 345 came through ECS to Tyseley!

Great video! I was on the 172345 that pulls up at Stourbridge Junction at around 7min30 in that video! The blond lady and the bloke she was with got on the same carriage as me! I think you can just about see me at one point in the door way.

Just a question Simon, do you have a beard? I saw someone with a camera round Stourbridge Junction filming when I was there today fitting that description!

there seems to be a lot of driver training goin on in the 2 car 172s , ive seen 211/213/215 this week a few times . 211 / 213 were out on sat.

chilterns 172s 101/103/104 were at marylebone on friday the other 102 i saw outside marylebone. front end looks better than the LM 172.

notice the slight difference to chilterns bogies to LMs

Prefer the LM units. They look the role and also remind me of the 150s seeing them as two cars. 172213 passed me yesterday at Stourbridge just before 150107 ( which I was on) left, and then it pulled up in the sidings (213) to wait for us to get in front. Also, how come today, every single train is calling at Bordesley? They have been and will be all day and I don't think it is to do with the match.

Had a trip from Moor Street to Smethwick Galton Bridge on a 172/3 this morning. Very nice too, the interior is surprisingly well insulated from the engine noise/vibration.

Lovely newness smell too - does anyone else think those carpets are going to be nightmare? Just felt slightly too thick to be hard wearing to me.

and one of the runs i went on today slipped like crazy when it rained
a bit like 323 ,very poor in the rain it MUST be in the heads of the LM people who orederd these trains that they are not has good at running has there meant to be .?

one driver told me there will be 5 units out from monday

Oh stop moaning about them. The 172s acceleration is fine and the de acceleration is really good I thought. They seem to come in at a high speed and accelerate fine. They seem to be running on time and it only seems that Chiltern are the late ones. Every evening I check, the Chilterns are running at least 10 mins late. We are lucky to have them when Northern would die for them.

I find the 172s acceleration perfectly fine also; the transmission doesn't bother me at all.

I would have thought a 172 has been to Dorridge as every diagram at some point will go there.

We are lucky to have them when Northern would die for them

Correction: Northern's Pacers would die for them (literally)!

Still early days, they will get better once drivers are used to them more.

Once they get to know the units better, they'll know exactly how to get the best performance out of them.

Trust me timing is not an issue, 172 beats 150 station to station timings, just slightly slower door cycle at station 'dwell' times but once crews are more fimiliar you will notice you sit at stations longer as you will make up time with a 172!!

dont know were , I was at whitlocks end and it didnt do the 11.48 to stratford ,because it was announced that train had failed ?
shure enough it did not turn up ! ,thus it missed the the following runs too.
i only saw 172 345 in passinger service today uptill 3pm anyway .


172 215 was running on driver training ty / stratford again

172337 had brake problems at Langley whilst working 2S30 (10:55 ex SBJ) and was taken out of service.


And Id just like to say that the complaint about 172s not being able to keep up with the 150 timings is pure nonsense.

if its pure nonsence ,why is it a daily basis that most of the time 172s are few mins late. the ones ive been on have not excelled in there starting or stopping.

2. What instruments have you used to measure the acceleration/deceleration? It might feel like it to you, but feelings are not reliable.

3. I have no idea what those pictures are supposed to show (or are they not connected?)

Considering the painfully slow construction of the end of Moor St platforms they are progressing well!

Moor St had heaps of S&T cables in the way so work would have to be phased around several planned disconnections.

No I was thinking more the actual platforms such as the slabs, tiles, brick work and cementing. I watched them, I mean, fair enough they did a really nice job, but they sure took their time on it!

Meanwhile the rebuilding of that viaduct section (which was fascinating) seemed to out pace the slab guys!
