The diversions for the 15, 33, 34 will be modified during 9am-8pm from July 9th and they will operate via Lauriston Place. It makes sense but, I wonder what knock on effect this will have to bus usage on other routes such as the 1 and how disruptive this will end up being for passengers.
The 43, 106, X6 will use Queen Street instead of George Street like the 100 from this date.
These diversions have ended up descending into an uttee farce, they could have knocked that building down by now instead of arsing about with it. Inconvenience of the highest degree and Lothian arent helping with that many routes going that many different diversions

Realistically, what else can they do? its not ideal but clearly it's not safe to just take the building down as it is otherwise i'm sure they would of done it, who knows how much longer this is going to take? Can't imagine how chaotic Leith is without the tram.

I'm honestly surprised they aren't having the 43 terminate at St Andrews Square like they used too, would of probably helped with the reliability issues.

I'm starting to think they are pushing back the date of the service changes to the end of September because they know this mess in the city centre will not be resloved quickly.

Lauriston Place during the festival can be bumper to bumper most of the day. It questionable if any time savings will be possible.

I do think a hard decision needs to be made to reroute some services away from George Street, particularly where routes have adequate replacements in this scenario. I guess this is why the 15, 33 and 34 were chosen to be changed from tomorrow, though for consistency I would have preferred these to be all day in both directions. I’m looking at the likes of the 4, 10, 24 as probably the other routes where this could be done. 10 and 24 via Lauriston Place and The Mound with the 4 running via Melville Street and Queen Street. 24 using Heriot Row.

Having the 10 and 11 using Queen Street would also help.

I agree with @TheEastCoaster, having the 43 turning at St Andrew Square, or even somewhere else nearby.

You know it took them 4 months to sort Union Corner out, right? The damage isn’t as severe granted, but it’s not even been a month.

The Union street fire they began taking the remains down brick by brick within a fortnight and despite that being a long term farce aswell they had the whole site cleared of the old building within 2 months, you’d think they’d be moving on on a smaller scale building in a City with millions of tourists about to descend for a festival a lot quicker than they are, we’ve not even heard about any potential dismantling of whats left of the building 4 weeks on. Its safer for the building to not be there than it is to be standing dangerously
Can't imagine how chaotic Leith is without the tram
Not to hark back to “good old times” but the trams we’re never needed and routes like the 12 and 22 still going down Leith Street would have been more useful

Yeah it’s going to be an unreliable service whatever way the buses go, just this way is even more inconvenient for people!

Which granted could have opened to traffic sooner, as said above the old building was gone within 2 months and work to take it down started within a fortnight of the fire, but this should be moving on faster especially with the festival approaching

In my opinion Queen street would be far more efficient despite the slight extra walking distance from George street.
I agree, I’ve long thought that Queen St should be the diversion route

In other news, I found out that Doors Open day this year is on Sat 26 Sep from 11-3 at Marine…

Saw a couple of the open top repowers yesterday which reminded me - those and 291-4 should have e added to their fleet numbers to keep them consistent with the BZLs and Kites. Unlike Lothian to be so sloppy.

Unless they decided not to, as they’re not “native” electrics? An insider might know.

Any reason why all the 11's are going part route Gilmerton on the tracker? nothing is coming up on the service updates

I’m guessing Hyvots Bank turning Circle is unavailable - roadworks? Buses turning at Gilmerton Terminus instead.

16 is confirmed as sold for those interested, joining 17 and 20 as such, with 11, 18 and 29 confirmed as scrapped after write offs.

That's great news thanks for the update. Any idea of who bought them?

Well I certainly doubt 1005 and 1006 (possibly more) have moved to Longstone for no reason.
Hopefully someone is able to clarify..

A month in Advance? More likely they have been moved because of the extra buses needed to get keep everything moving.

Historically buses have always been taken out of reserve some time in advance once changes have been confirmed internally. I have also been told of expected onwards movements ahead.

I remembered about the 37A and 39A that was brought up a few months ago just now, wonder what will become of that?

Keep an eye on the 13th of September. At my depot we've all got our duties until then, and then there's nothing, which is usually a sign that things are going to change.
