I do think that we ought more generally be moving to reforming most of the 150's into 3 carriage units.

It's booked 2 cars and actually manages fine?
Admittedly I've not used peak workings into Exeter, but most trains I've taken have been perfectly fine with that.

There are occasional services I have seen full and standing but that is a rarity, most of the time two carriages is plenty. I can see an argument to extend some services, especially if Okehampton Interchange becomes a commuter hub.
This would leave a shortage of units to cover services, and 6 cars are too long to work other routes, such as Paignton - Exmouth.

Not at this point in their life. In any case 3-car 175s are due to appear on this route, and the eventual new fleet could well avoid 2-car units altogether.
From my experience up North, 2 carriage 150's generally aren't adequate. They don't have the capacity to soak up passengers comfortably like a 2 carriage 158 which has longer vehicles and is much better laid out.
I imagine it's similar in Devon.

I would envisage this being a process over time as more modern units supplement the older ones.

Whilst you may have a point in general, Okehampton manages fine with a 2 car 150, the only busy train being the first one in the morning which is quite often full and standing in college term time, but not crush loaded.
Making all 3 car 150's would have been a good idea a few years back, but with the 175's (stop laughing) there is a bit of a bet gain of vehicles in Devon and Cornwall. You couldn't have all of them as three cars as Looe and Gunnislake can only take 2 (or 1) car trains.
However, having say 4 or 5 three car 150's could be beneficial to make the Falmouth branch 3 cars (but then complicated by eventual Cornwall Metro) and putting the St Ives up to a 5 car in July and August.

Possibly not, but it's due to go over to three car 175 operation between now and May.
This PR 'blurb' from West Devon council is undated. Presuming (!) it is recent we are already a month or so into 'summer', so 'due to open in Summer 2026' says little. Why cannot a date and train times be given?Good video here.

It opens to the public on the 1st of August with the start of service.

Which leaves out "service stop unadvertised"
The opening had been delayed previously and that may mean the opening date could only be confirmed with short notice. Other option is a later safe opening date which adds further delay and leads station closed when it could be open and earning revenue.
The change to the schedules were published on Friday, some stakeholder or staff comms will have happened before that. Now train times are available on the usual sites would expect the passenger facing announcements to happen very soon.

Is Okehampton Interchange effectively confirmed to be opening on Saturday 1st August as I can not find any official confirmation of this, although booking sites are selling tickets?
I am looking at advance tickets to Devon for Monday 3rd August to visit the new station but do not want to book them if the station will not be opening.

I've seen it on a poster within Exeter Depot, which I suspect is where others have seen it too, obviously I'm not going to take pictures within a non public area and then post on a forum

The Oakhampton Times now has the opening, so locals are informed, with official opening Friday, and trains from Saturday
