Does anyone have any update or sightings of units currently being refurbished? Feels like a long time since the last one returned to Chiltern, at the current rate it will take them until the 2030's to complete the whole fleet!

There's a post on the XC 170 thread from LinkedIn showing that 168108 at least looks visibly finished, so hopefully won't be long until that one comes back. Not sure what the hold up with 168005 is though! That one went way before 108 did, although I'd imagine the /0s would be in a worse state than the others are.

Edit: Speaking of which, paths have now appeared for a swap over.

The /0s are in worse state, on the whole, than their classmates.

I forget why, but corrosion / water ingress was always much worse on the /0s. As was the high pitch whistle noise in the leading cab end / compartment (incidently) at curising speed.

The Crewe paths are running and 168110 is heading off, so presumably only 168108 is coming back.

Edit: Confirmed only 168108 coming back

Sorry if I've missed it - has anybody put together a list of the refurbed 168s yet? Trying to cobble together one of my own but I won't bother if it's already been done.

I had made one back on page 10 of the thread, although it's a bit outdated now and I need to go back to it.

Okay I feel like I'm missing something here but according to RTT, 168329 actually re-entered passenger service on the 22nd? It's not been out since but is showing as working with 168001 for the whole afternoon, and given how it's usual training run went into the same platform as 168001 and then went back out minutes later on 1H53, it appears it might have actually happened?

There was a situation that required a boxing in of a cab.
168329 remained locked out for the duration of its time while attached to 001.

They can keep the 0/s , absolute junk.
Even the ones that have come back already are terrible.

Is it possible to pin this to the top of the first page of this thread? It would be super handy.

Honestly don't know how to do that, if I even can.
If it runs, then 168005 should be coming back on the 13th with another unit heading off.
There will be 4 4 car 168s ending in Banbury tonight instead of the usual 2, 002, 106, 107 & 216, so I think it's very possible the run will actually happen this time.

Edit: Confirmed running with 168002 heading off to Crewe.

168005 & 168329 heading from Banbury to Aylesbury currently. Hopefully won't be long for the two of them to return to service!

168329 heading back to Banbury with 165038 on 2U60, will presumably be locked out.

There's a path for another unit to go to Crewe on the 27th, with no return path, and obviously as 168110 & 168002 have only just gone, there's no chance either would be ready yet.

The run to Crewe did happen this morning, does anyone know what unit went? And also why it went? It's not one of the unrefurbished units as all of them happen to be out in service today.

Edit 29/07: Was 168219. Returning today.

05/08: 168005 re-entered service this morning.
