There is no plan to retire the classic site for the foreseeable future. On a slightly different topic, what is the plan, if any, for retiring https://tickets-classic.railforums.co.uk ?
I'll buy you 3 pints of drinks up to 6% ABV if you implement this.
You need to get AI doing fully automated reviews then there are ways...ROFL, we wouldn't get away with that with code reviews these days![]()
I’m glad you pushed back on thatIf we're doing custom features I will spring to another 3 drinks (at my discretion, I can think of several ways for be bankrupted with 3 pints even under 6%) if you implement a "buy Adam a drink" feature

If you're sure you won't change your mind about wanting a Single and definitely won't return, you can choose "change ticket selection" then choose the fare you want:Hi all.
I’ve noticed when using the forum ticket site that I’m sometimes, but not always, offered a super off peak return as my return leg instead of a straightforward SOP single. The prices are the same. Won’t this be to my disadvantage if I want to make a delay repay claim on that return leg ?
My example is Tonbridge to Cannon St return, on any weekday, with a Network Railcard.
Thanks.

It would be to your advantage if you wanted to make additional journeys and to your disadvantage if you wanted to claim Delay Repay. It's a quirk of the journey planner that it's non-deterministic in this way, unfortunately.

As you can see, the single is still listed.

https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...booking-your-rail-tickets.236796/post-7812489I think you need to reconsider how you present the results of a search to the customer.
I searched for a return ticket from Edinburgh to London, and this is what I got back:
View attachment 207247
At first glance, there appeared to be no direct trains from London to Edinburgh, and I assumed that there must be engineering works going on. (I didn't initially notice that the first 6 departures were all at the same time, and that the next 4 were from Liverpool Street.) The direct services were off the page, and I only eventually saw them by scrolling down.
As much as I appreciate what you're doing, in particular that you allow me to select seats on train companies whose own websites don't offer that option, your ticketing website does give the impression that it's an enthusiasts' hobby project rather than a serious retail site. Why would you prioritise an itinerary that requires 4 changes of train and takes almost 10 hours over a direct, 4½-hour journey that (apparently) costs less? (Though I fully appreciate the difficulties in deciding how to prioritise the results.)
Many of my family members and friends find railway ticketing very confusing and stressful at the best of times (I am constantly being asked to buy tickets for them) and, as much as I'd like to, I could not, in all honesty, ever recommend that they use your site to book tickets. They simply wouldn't understand what you're offering.
Any further thoughts on this one @yorkie ? CheersThank you to you both for your replies. I must apologise because my original message wasn’t explicit enough.
The actual journey I am referring to is Tonbridge to Cannon St return, but via an Anytime Day Single outward, and then a SOP inward. From home to work, and back again.
Sometimes the inward SOP leg is offered to me as a return rather than a single hence my question about potential disadvantage if I need to make a DR claim.
As an aside, when using the site on iOS Safari I do not get the option to change a SOP return into a single…

In the meantime, I would suggest that those who want faster journeys make use of the filters:
I tried it a few times and yes I got a return, and there isn't a way to change it, when you are searching for a return journey. You can change it when you are searching for a single.Any further thoughts on this one @yorkie ? Cheers

By the way, we do allow the use of ticket codes, but they must be correct and not made up. The codes here are SWS and SRR:

It may be possible to change the behaviour so that when a single journey is searched for, a return is only offered when cheaper, and not the same price. I don't think that is the best option for most people, as a return portion may be useful for some people.
If the train is delayed by say 30 minutes, then yes you could get £6.50 back instead of £3.25, but if you sent your full itinerary demonstrating you were only using that ticket for a single journey, perhaps Southeastern would show discretion (whether it's worth faffing for such small amounts I am not too sure!)
The last LNER departure is at 1833; if I amend the first link accordingly, it does work.Unless I'm doing something daft, I cannot find any itineraries at all from Durham to Harrogate avoiding Northern on Saturday (yes I appreciate that this is not an "sensible" way to do it, but I want to treat my mum for her birthday and that means first class the entire way if we're doing some of the journey by train). Search link for that
Force a change at Leeds with Northern still excluded, and it still doesn't work
But then remove the Northern stipulation at all (while keeping force v Leeds on) and plenty of options come up which don't have Northern involved (which are so expensive I wouldn't even consider them, but my actual trip planning* is another matter!)
*Likely to be just drive to Harrogate/York or train to York/Northallerton - I think prioritising nicer Betty's means going with the drive but idk.

The reservation system is useless for a whole host of reasons, but one of those reasons is that it doesn't allow setting up "things that aren't seats" data inside a carriage. It only knows of seats. Everything else (luggage racks, vestibules, exits, tables) all has to be done by hand.Is there supposed to be indicators of tables?

What sort of ticket are you referring to here? How do I modify a ticket that is typically non-changeable?
Looks like the "owning" operator has enabled eTickets to some destinations and not others from Liverpool Airport Bus, so sometimes it splits at places where all the tickets involved are eTicketable (eg splitting at Irlam) even though the through ticket isn't enabled.Likely not the correct place but shows the splits as being eticketable but not the off-peak non-splits which are shown correctly as paper only
I don't think that currently* any tickets are non-changeable, insofar as you are allowed to rebook and refund the original (subject to the relevant rules, i.e. overall origin and destination matching etc)The "Important Information" at the bottom of email booking confirmations states that "All tickets are exchangeable before travel (fees may apply)" and the tickets sent to me state "✓ Exchangeable before travel".
How do I modify a ticket that is typically non-changeable?
If I head to the basket having selected the split at Irlam I can’t choose eticket, it says that it’s paper onlyLooks like the "owning" operator has enabled eTickets to some destinations and not others from Liverpool Airport Bus, so sometimes it splits at places where all the tickets involved are eTicketable (eg splitting at Irlam) even though the through ticket isn't enabled.

Now that's more interesting - I'll have to have a dig furtherIf I head to the basket having selected the split at Irlam I can’t choose eticket, it says that it’s paper only
