Class 175s to GWR

Another move from Wolverton to Exeter is now scheduled for this Tuesday.

It says that it is pathed as a 158 or 175, so I would guess it is probably going to be a 175, however the 150 that was supposed to come back down this week didn't, so it could also be that...

If it's pathed for 100mph the timings will fit as such so a 75mph Sprinter probably wouldn't do it.
I'm very wary of the fact that a green unit is apparently nearly or already ready to go, so I'm watching this one closely. I could wander out to see it but it is like a 2+ hour journey to wherever I want to see it in 28 degree plus heat!

Good day today. All 3 units ran without issues. 003 is an acting saint for GWR at the moment, in all fairness to the unit.

175114 on mainline starting 2C05
175114 and 175001 were connected on a Plymouth service. I'm assuming 175001 was locked out of use.

Things beginning to look better now.
It's been an okay day today. 001 I assume had issues as 114 needed to take it home to Laira this afternoon, cancelling 2C32 from EXD - PLY. A 150 took it onwards from there.
All other diagrams have performed relatively well throughout minus 007 that had an issue between Truro and Redruth but it was quickly resolved and the unit is nearly back to Plymouth already on 2P21.

009 has somehow gone from 15 minutes late to on time on 2C31 fair play to the unit.

Overall, not as bad as it has been especially as it's quite warm in the Exeter area and everywhere else in general.

Promising.

Any reports of 001s problems if any at all ?

Not sure, unfortunately.
But, regardless, it's been a positive day for the units regardless.

Lets hope it stays consistent and gets even better from here!
Also curious as to whether that move from Wolverton will run tomorrow - it's down as "Runs as required", so will check in the morning whether it's been activated.

001 had an isolated engine. 114 also turned out to have an isolated engine. No idea why! Hence we ran them ECS Exeter to Plymouth.
Both units booked back out tomorrow. Tomorrow is same units as today minus the exception of 175009.

Pleased to see a 3 car on Newquay and the Paignton trainer ran again today and booked for tomorrow. Wolverton-Exeter today not yet activated.

How does a 3 car on Newquay manage with the short platforms along the branch?
Local door, presumably. Works for Avoncliff and Dilton Marsh, both of which are, I imagine, much busier.
It's local door only at Luxulyan and Bugle on the 3 cars. Max of a 3 car set if the service is calling at intermediate stations. Double sets (if they ever get approved) can only run fast to NQY

Not been a great day. 001 pulled from training again and worked with 002 to Plymouth. Delayed once due to defective track between NTA and TOT then delayed again from IVY to PLY because of some sort of train fault; 2C32 then cancelled onwards to Penzance as a result of a 71 minute delay!
175007 seems to have given up at SGM then terminated at LSK, ran empty to Plymouth.
175003 is late but still going
175112 is running fine as it has been all day on the Newquay branch.

Looks like things going backwards again.
001 and 007 appear to have regular issues. Hoping that 001s fault today is not a repeat of yesterdays which would indicate they may be struggling a bit ?

175114 had the same issue Tuesday as Monday (engine wouldn't start) hence it never made it off of Laira.

175001 had the same issue Tuesday as it did on Monday.

Infact, 175001, 175002 and 175007 all suffered the same issue yesterday.

Thanks for the information.

There are quite a few interlocks that have to be met before the starter motor will even begin to think about turning the engine over and if it does turn over its not a guaranteed engine start as there could be other factors that stop it firing.

001, 002, 007 if I had to have a stab at the similar issues I would guess at heat related problems relating to engine cooling systems, hydraulic oil cooling or battery charger cooling. Could also be driver or passenger cooling with air con faults.

The old wooden goods shed by P6 was operated by Premier Transport. Given that name hasn’t been around for years and the goods shed demolished, new depot built and layout altered I’m surprised that name still lingers on.
Having said that Hyde Park hasn’t existed for decades but the siding by P2 still bears its name.

Thanks. Wonder why it is still used. Perhaps it still means something to someone.

Is it only 002 and 112 running today? I've just seen 112 on Saltash cam.

As of right now only 2 units of 5 are active.

175002 on the Newquay branch
175114 on mainline.

175001 terminated at Totnes earlier 2E06
175007 didn't make it onto 2C26/2P21 due to "a problem with the onboard safety systems".
175112 terminated short at Newton Abbot on 2C18 but then came back into service on 2C31 just to fail short again and terminated at Par and is now returning to Laira.

All in all, a really poor day.
