Are there any plans on buying any new electric buses for any parts of Cumbria or Lancashire with Stagecoach, I would like to see some around Preston (mainly 125 personally), as those two E10s Preston have won't see public service in many years unfortunately. Would be perfect for the 125R if Stagecoach won it next year

I would suspect Morecambe be a potentual option but I dont know if its been considered for there

Just looking on Bustimes.org and seen there's a Yutong E10 (63126) allocated to Barrow but it's only been out on a tracked service once. I know Bustimes isn't always accurate but if it has been allocated to Barrow is it just on trial down here or likely to be permanent?

The depot details on bustimes come from the timetable and so in any case of a mistracking, it will lead to the wrong depot details being shown (in short, vehicle 1234 tracked on trip abc. Operators data says that trip abc is ran by depot XYZ so bus shows as being at depot XYZ).

In this case, a quick bit of sense checking suggests that this was actually YJ74 CZF 48200 but there was some tracking issues around 10pm that night (YJ74 CZF was on that block number all day and tracked starting the trip and did the next trip.

I'd personally go with anything Preston related to go in the Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancs thread myself.......

Anyone know how the recent incursion of Preston Bus into Bamber Bridge is going? On the few occasions I see a Preston Bus out there, there is hardly anyone on them, mainly because it is behind a stagecoach bus.

The Stagecoach 111 extension to Tanterton has only been running a few weeks, but I am not sure it offers any advantage of a through route as it would be appear to be quicker getting off bus as it heads into the Bus Station and catching an earlier bus on its way out (just my impression).

Quick question, is this thread still used for South Lancashire (Preston and Chorley) discussions?

I notice yet another Preston to Chorley route has begun recently. The 124 - Chorley - Whittle-le-Woods, Brindle, Houghton, Bamber Bridge and Preston.

I know the number of routed between Preston and Chorley have been mentioned here, but I wonder how popular it is with linking up the villages with one another? It has always been empty when I have seen it at the Preston end.

111 extension isn't overly busy but has pulled passengers away from a 35 that had already switched to smaller buses. 23 extension doesn't seem to have the same effect.

Probably just trial - the E10s are for Warton and Salmesbury shuttles respectively. Unless one steps into Barrow now too

As I posted a few days ago, I overheard a conversation last week which indicated Morecambe are expecting electric buses some time next year. No indication of what or when, and could be false info - but the people discussing it were in a position to know

Thats a Preston bus that mistracked. 63126 and 63127 are for the BAE Systems Contract Stagecoach have

The 124 was introduced to give the village of Brindle a bus for the first time since 2016, there has also been requests for a link from the Houghton area to the hospital and district centre of Chorley.

Geoff Marshall needs to start a new series. 'All the direct bus routes between Preston and Chorley' as there's a stupid number of different routes between the towns.

I'll save my thoughts on the 124 for a separate, more appropriate thread.

Yes, it provides an alternative way to get to Houghton/Riley Green for the walk across the railway to the River Darwen at Houghton Bottoms. We must try it when it isn't too hot.

I wouldn't say a stupid number, they all do different things and connect different places. Same with links to Leyland from both Preston and Chorley.

Off the top of my head there is the 125, the 109, 114, 115 and now the 124. The 124 is actually a good bus to get to Preston from Chorley as it only takes around 55 minutes which is only 10 minutes longer than the 125 and a far more interesting and pleasant route.

I see the 534's coming to an end this weekend (Windermere-Cark-Grange). Managed to catch a ride on it from Newby Bridge up to Windermere and even on a rather wet drizzly day in the Lakes the bus was completely packed (almost standing room only), so hopefully that means it's been popular over the summer. Was it a new route for this summer or has it run in previous summers, because I'd never noticed it on Stagecoach's lakes-area bus map before? Either way, hope it returns next summer because as well as connecting Cark it's also just a useful link that fills in some of the long gaps along the A591 between the infrequent 6's.
