Absolutely, and there's nothing wrong at all with them showing us all these "what if" liveries.
Precisely my view on this subject. My opinion is all well and good, but since I don't own the loco and I'm not the one paying the bills, any mis-givings I have over suitabilty are frankly irrelevent (I'm all for showing what might have been though through such repaints though; the Large Logo 14 & 15 and the Loadhaul 50 being perfect examples of that).
It does suit it very well.
It won't be a surprise to anyone, given my username, that the Loadhaul livery is my favourite one.

I always thought the livery suited the shape of the 37s better, than on the box-shape of 08 / 31 / 33 / 47 / 56 / 58 / 60 / 73.
Just a pity someone has stuck a Thornaby depot sticker on the side, rather than a Gateshead one.
I remember it when it was green (D6950) and covered in grime. Must have been a long job cleaning it down at Donny works before the repaint!
Just to point out that the red livery is authentic for some of the class - the original LMS livery for passenger tanks was red, Midland Railway style - but not the preserved one, which seems not to have been repainted into LMS livery until after the change to black lined in red.

I guess that was in homage to 20 088 - the only Chopper to wear Railfreight "Sector-less" triple-grey livery in BR service.
Agree, although it's too shiny to be primer. I was on the Tallyllyn last week, with No 4 as the haulage.

A couple of class 30s were painted in experimental liveries in 1963, D5578 in golden ochre and D5579 in a matt blue, rather lighter than the eventually adopted Rail Blue. Colour pictures of either are rare

I belive in the early days BR would not allow any preserved locos to appear in BR livery, even on private railways, and even if that was the only authentic livery for some of the younger locos
Indeed, Railfreight grey and yellow suits any "hood" design, from Class 14 to Class 58
A maybe apocryphal story, and we remember the D&EG's D7017 in BR blue with their own logo on the bodyside, which it carries again now.

The Wipac lights and the missing quarterlights spoil the appearance, but controversially, I think the purple/grey looks better than all over blue. It was recognised when designed that painting the bodysides in a single colour would not look right.

If I recall, InterCity didn't want them (there was no need for the 50, the IC125 and 47 fulfilled that for InterCity). So NSE had 'em in 1986.
