Does anyone know what EMR coloured 222 is running out of Polmadie today ?
5Z44 Stirling to Polmadie passed earlier but couldn’t see it close enough!
Apologies if it has been mentioned elsewhere but I can’t see it!!

I don’t think there’s a recent dedicated thread. The original 7 extra, subsequently 12 extra, was discussed here:

Anyone know how many 221s are remaining with Avanti and when the remaining ones will transfer across? According to the 805 thread, all booked services will be 805s from December, so presumably they will have transferred by then. (I did search for a thread on this topic but could only find...

Not sure that matters as much as you imply.
The trains are leased, maintenance is outsourced (to Hitachi at Craigentinny for the 803s and Alstom at Polmadie for the 222s) and drivers are separately based for the two separate routes.
80x may be better but fleet commonality only really makes any difference if they need to switch units between routes.
Polmadie does some of the 222 maintenance, but their base is at Central Rivers alongside the core Voyager fleet

I know there was much discussion of this, but never seemed to reach a clear conclusion - are the Lumo 222s running at 125mph south of Weaver using the MU profile or has that not been signed off for Lumo?
I understood they were actively pursuing permission for this when Avanti were still to sign off running the 80x at the new MU speeds.

None of those three have entered service yet. 602 is still 5 car 002 and 603/604 are still at Widnes

Seems all is not well today. Both services cancelled due to traction failure, and 222601 off to Central Rivers, presumably for repair - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:78880/2026-05-29/detailed
The issue when you (currently) have one unit to work all your services. It should be a lot better when the service is up and running in full

It was rather ill advised to start up with no spare unit. They have arranged some acceptance but it's patchy, nothing to get you to MKC for example. More the kind of shoddiness one would expect from Grand Central!

Was the refurb just an internal refit? Considering the issues the units have had (and still are) with EMR, what was really going to change? I’m going to speculate that there’s going to be plenty more issues with these units as they appear to be needing much mechanical work.
I think its beneficial that they get to see Central Rivers again. After a while I reckon any issues in EMR's legacy will be ironed out. LUMO were a bit too ambitious trying to run a service with one unit in my opinion
That or 603 may make its debut?

There's a path from Central Rivers tomorrow (Monday 1st June) to Carlisle where 222601 should pick up the service path to Euston (1M01).

Is this and the thread on EMR's issues with the class 222s an indication that these things coming to ScotRail will be an absolute goat rodeo and things will be worse than with the HSTs! Certainly the 222 threads on this forum do not fill me with hope for the future with regards the inter7city services!
I don't think it's really fair to judge the reliability of the Lumo units this soon. Give it some time, especially now that they're getting attention at Central Rivers, they might end up being quite reliable again.

Looks like the ECS never left Barton-under-Needwood. Was scheduled for an 06:07 departure.

Lumo's website says it is cancelled throughout with either road replacement transport or ticket acceptance in place on alternative services.
Nothing about the return London to Stirling working mind you.
