I remember that day too

And its not that long ago since the last Olympians ran in service
It's 12 years ago since the last Olympians ran in service, only seems like 5 minutes. As for the Geminis, there will still be Geminis in the fleet for some time, its just 698 and 705 that don't have long left due to the age of them

Doesn't that just highlight something... There is always the next generation of vehicles that we will miss.

Was you on the last service day - albeit a one day service - when 630 came out to play followed by 629? That very last run from Hessle Foreshore (that seemed to be a very last minute decision by both drivers to depart from the station-cottingham-skidby-humberbridge car park roundabouts) down Clive Sully in a two bus formation was epic and was honestly some of the best Olympian thrash I have ever had

No unfortunately I missed it as we were on holiday at the time. I did many miles in 629 and 630 in service at Pocklington though, both were good buses. I'm pleased 629 survives in preservation

Who has it now? Last I heard it was part of Yorkshire buses?

Over how long a term? Those buses are 14-reg – East Yorkshire have a huge number of Volvos that are at least 5 years older than that in squadron service, so why would a relatively minor route in West Yorkshire (which they might not even have in a couple of years' time) be prioritised for new buses?
I've seen that Go Ahead have ordered a batch of B8RLE Evoras (unsure of exact number) with the first one already in Cleckheaton, for the 615/616/619/633 services. These should allow the current cascaded buses to move onto the 571 and any extras along with the B7RLEs currently on the 571 to return to East Yorkshire.

The 212 is going up for tender in July. If Go Ahead wins, I won't expect anything to change. If someone else wins, Go Ahead will have another 3 buses to move around either to Cleckheaton to allow more buses to return to East Yorkshire or send the 3 buses straight back to East Yorkshire.

B8RLE Evolution 20392 has transferred from Compass Royston to Fourways.

I've been to Hull, they've sent me to Halifax. I'm a bit worried about where I'm going next! 361 (I think) seen today. Sorry, picture disorientated as is the bus).

Not a good day for 929 - low coolant, engine derating itself and going into limp mode... Plus a possible oil leak

Oh, and its bus number 2 for the M1/M3 as the first broke down this morning before leaving the depot

Random events on the 200 Wolds Explorer today. The first return journey just didn't run. The second journey also didn't leave as scheduled; a kind driver on another route called someone to enquire what was happening and was told it was cancelled due to no driver. The four of us waiting then went on our way. However, it then randomly ran setting off around 30 mins late from Pocklington, presumably with no passengers. Of course, as you'd expect, neither the delay or cancellation showed up on the live tracker or app.

Well, that was jolly good fun - 929 decided to throw temper tantrums with its engine, oil and coolant systems all going more batty then an old aunt, overheating passengers that became very vocal at a return to last year's debacle, limp mode deciding to come screaming in, the fans turning themselves off, having to pull over either to the grass on the side of the road or a handy bus stop many times on both M1/M3 in both directions to let the engine cool down which was screaming for mercy. At one point, and by looking at GPS tracking plus the dash speedo, we made a grand speed of 2mph but this was only with the wind at our backs.

The driver either got frustrated with the clearly crippled vehicle or obtained permission and took the bus out of service prior to beverley bus station and dropped people off only - apologising for the 45 minute delay which only gained back 10 minutes overall on arrival at Hull Interchange.

Speaking as a damned frustrated passenger, 929 should be taken round the back of Anlaby Road depot and put out its misery

That certainly isn't the first time that a Pocklington driver has just not shown up for one of the Sunday/BH journeys and no-one has known anything about it – smacks of slack management if there is no-one monitoring whether drivers are booking on and following up if they don't turn up. (I get that sometimes a driver might go AWOL for good reasons or bad, and there isn't a lot that management can do at 5 minutes' notice when they find out that the driver who was supposed to be at the depot isn't there, but the lack of information and communication is the problem)

I was talking to people on Moorsbus yesterday who used the Wolds Explorer on Saturday. They didn't even know it ran on Sundays & Bank Holidays! Shows the lack of promotion for the service from EY! They said it was like a private taxi service on Saturday.

To use the words of the M31 driver yesterday, "No surprises there."

The communication problem is horrendous. No excuses for EY to not inform people.

I would say each service launch at Go Ahead West Yorkshire has become less impressive each time.

When they first launched the 571 they had a full set of branded buses and they made a big fuss. Now the Bradford services are being run by a mix of buses in different liveries (GAWY livery, some plain white, some in East Yorkshire colours)

They seemed to be ok with the X98/99 take on too.

It would seem to be that they are stretched having taken work after Yorkshire Buses' collapse and then the Bradford tender wins. It might be that the all white ones will be branded GAWY on their white paintwork, and that the 4 in East Yorkshire colours will be sent back there and backfilled.

Perhaps the more recent launches have been at shorter notice, and/or on less generous terms, meaning that they haven't been able to get new vehicles in time, or get the fleet shuffled round to a final reallocation and get them rebranded in only a short window. The initial launch, and the X98/X99, had a longer turnaround and so gave them the opportunity to get everything ready beforehand.

Go Ahead announced the Bradford services roughly a month ahead of the launch. They've ordered Evoras for the services but these haven't all arrived and none have entered service. Perhaps they arrived later than Go Ahead anticipated so they had to transfer vehicles over from East Yorkshire.

What did surprise me for the Bradford services was how late they left publishing and uploading timetables on the EY website (the Go Ahead West Yorkshire website is still yet to launch) and to Metro. Next Stop Indicators weren't updated as a result of the information arriving so late. I would've expected better from Go Ahead regarding this.

I would imagine that is probably the likeliest reasons

It might be an EY issue. Alternatively, it could be Metro were looking at some last minute revisions.

When I asked Metro when the timetables were due to be published a week and a half before the launch of the services that seemed to let them know they hadn't had them yet.

Unfortunately its seems there is systematic failures with information/bus destination displays and next stop announcements not working, drivers and controllers in Hull are fed up of the way the company is and alot are looking to leave when speaking to them. Doesn't Unfortunately seem to be a quick fix for the company.
