It along with 698 and 705 were meant to be going this year, all 3 are on borrowed time really due to the age of them
For what are meant to be premium buses for a long distance route, that are relatively Young (6 years old) and operated by a large company such as EY, I'd expect much better.
EY posted a picture of the TOTO machine on their Facebook page on 24 March saying "Tap on, tap off is coming very soon" but nothing has been said since then.
Weird about TOTO, EY is one of the biggest companies in the region without it. Hopefully its coming soon as people often board and will immediately tap their card/phone on the reader only for it to be rejected. People are now seeing TOTO as the normal so are surprised when EY doesn't have it.

Mid-June was the latest suggested date for its rollout.
It's noticeable in York, passengers who are presumably accustomed to it on First buses trying to use it and having to explain to them that it's not yet operable and they still need a "proper" ticket.

What happened to them replacing the older fleet with electrics?
One presumes its something to do with the fact some are already broken or withdrawn from traffic due to front end smashes
Yes I believe they are still bedding the electric buses in though a good number of them are now on the road
Thanks - there is often the odd teething problem so keeping a couple of extras on makes sense as they settle down.
I know it makes some sense to send the B8RLEs to West Yorkshire where the operating terrain is more challenging but the main fleet is looking a bit peachy in places.

Over how long a term? Those buses are 14-reg – East Yorkshire have a huge number of Volvos that are at least 5 years older than that in squadron service, so why would a relatively minor route in West Yorkshire (which they might not even have in a couple of years' time) be prioritised for new buses?
It may be that with so much movement around, they want to wait until the fleet is settled before rebranding any vehicles, just to make sure that they don't end up changing things round again and then having to re-rebrand them a couple of months down the line.
I believe the idea was buses would be cascaded from East Yorkshire so that the B7RLEs could return to East Yorkshire. No idea about the timescale.
True but now they just have buses running around in redundant branding (York Locals, Scarborough Locals, Scarborough Sevens, ValeRider, Procters, etc). Even just removing the branding and possibly having just East Yorkshire branding would be better. Who knows when, even if, the fleet will ever settle at the rate buses are moved around?
If Go Ahead does very well in franchising in West Yorkshire, I wouldn't be surprised to see the West Yorkshire business separated from the East Yorkshire business.
