Oxley isn't between Wolves and Stafford.

Oxley is between Wolverhampton (no such place as Wolves) and Stafford geographically.

If you mean Oxley depot isn’t on the rail line between Wolverhampton and Stafford you’d be right but for reasons given above much earlier in the thread it affects Wolverhampton/Stafford route. By National Rail (and then the BBC) wrongfully labelling it as Bilbrook that would be far less apparent.

The exact location is really a non issue - the Wolverhampton area and the route affected (Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury) is all the average passenger needs to know. And in any case the incident is now over:

How can the location be a non issue? Then don't give the location at all. For rail travellers the location was completely irrelevant. The BBC added this as a news item and if it was from a Network Rail press release then the BBC repeated the incorrect location. Why if NR are going to specify a location why not at least make it the correct one. Otherwise don't bother and just say all trains to Shrewsbury were cancelled and trains to Stafford disrupted.
I gather seeing a later post Avanti trains were stuck in the incorrect locations at the end of the day causing the disruption. Surely the location was not a State secret so why not at least get it right.

Where the incident happened was about half a mile from WV8 postcode which is Bilbrook. Many punters don't know where Oxley is but will know Bilbrook due to the station being there and no station at Oxley.

I don't understand why people are getting hung up on Bilbrook being mentioned rather than Oxley. This difference is negligible

Maybe consider where we are, what we all do as a hobby and the books, maps and details that we all write in or colour?

Meanwhile RAIB will be along in a year or so to tell the world, accurately, exactly where it all happened and, that other incredibly inconsequential bit, why it happened.

Pedantry. In railway terms, Oxley is nothing to do with Wolves Stafford.

Avanti do, but they can outstable elsewhere if needs be (and did so). They run 1tph between Wolves amd Stafford.
